Wanna bet it's the rich rat crowd? Couple cars around here that took $30.000.00 to make them look rat.

Prime example. This car came to my husband's work and it has to be the "prettiest" rat rod I've ever seen. Quoting Richard D...."It costs a lot of money to look this cheap." Yeah, somewhere in the neighborhood of $45K to be exact. Carrrrazy!!

It is all Kustombuilders fault. He was putting them on his chevy and then everyone had to follow suit.

Man, I oughta put some random taillights I have up for sale on the bay and label them "the ultimate rat rod accessory". Damn.

Holy cow! I've got a bunch of those I was going to use on my '34 (thought they'd look killer with the teardrop-shaped grille and a set of late-model Indian teardrop headlights), but never got around to it....

  13. ****, I could have pulled 3 or 4 pair of those Hudson lights off cars that went to the crusher in 2006. That's more than half what I paid for a whole damned car with a set on it. In fact one '48 I paid less than that for.

I'm going to go scouting, I know where there are some rotty stepdowns no one's ever going to move again. I may have to wear waders to get to a couple of them, in fact.

The '33 Dodge light I can kind of see, they're a lot harder to find and the "Dodge" on it is pretty cool.

Just like PT Barnum said "there is a ****er born every day". I think that is true based on the sale prices from these tail lamps....

As a long time seller on eBay, I've seen fads come and go. A few years ago, I was lucky to get $10-$15 for a pair of 50 Pontiac taillights. Last year, a buddy of mine sold several pairs for about $150 each, but now the price on those has cooled off to about the $50-$65 range. What's hot one season may get no bids the next.

The trick is knowing ahead of time what is going to bring good money and when. I've never been able to do that!

I pulled some from a Nash about 5 years ago, cuz the kid was crushing all the cars and the dad said I could have anything I could carry out, so I grabbed a bunch of lights, got some cool Pakard ones that sold at a swapmeet for like $50.00.

those tail lights are cool. to pay that much for them is foolish. ebay is a funny thing... something like that will sell for big buck one week, and go without a bid 3 weeks later. all it takes is 2 bidders who have more money thatn sense, and are not smart enough to bid at the last minute.

I sold a pair of mid 30's bumper guards a few months ago. they were nice.. rechromed and never installed. not sure what they fit. I figured I'd get 40 bucks for them. I had 2 bidders who bid all week long every day and they sold for $250.00. if one or both of them had just waited until the last day to bid thEy would have went for MAYBE $75.00 ...
