Hey fellas, Bob K is broken down in Kansas City and needs help. Sounds like he has a burnt up wheel bearing. Anyone have access to such a thing for a Ford 8" in KC? If so, give Bob a call... 715.216.4145

He is with Chris Nelson at the moment, but needs to get a plan in place so he can get going by morning....

Bob is looking for a place, someones shop with tools that he can use including a jack or lift, or a trustworthy shop that he can pay to get the job done NOW (early morning) and get back on the road in the morning.

I just got off the phone with Gas Stove-Bolt who is a teacher and has access to a shop first thing in the morning and will be able to help Bob out. GSB (Mick) is calling Bob now to make arrangements. I'll keep in touch with Bob and update. In the meantime if anyone else can help out, pls call Bob.

Dad's shop is available tomorrow. Sod Buster has his number.

My dad is unemployed (retired), so he can help or do a parts run if you need him to.

    Keep us updated.

At least the 8 inch Ford uses one of the most ... if NOT the MOST commonly used axle bearings sold today for Fords ... should be real easy to source one. Ford # DOAZ1225A The NAPA store near me has boxes and boxes of them ... and a machine shop to press the bearing off/on ...

    Good Luck Bob K
If you were here ... you would be on the road by 9 or earlier ... in the morning :)

  20. Alot of love here on the Hamb. Cool common Ford bearing. Fits those small bearing 9 inch rear ends also, I think.

How can I get my name and number on the list? We live in Desloge, MO about 50 miles south of St Louis just off of US67. I have a decent garage with tools, magic bolt drawer, compressed air and a mig welder (no lift, but good jack and stands). I don't see well anymore, and am medically retired, but I have been working on stuff all of my life and would be willing to help anyone stuck out here. We have an O'Reilly and a Zone store close by too.

I don't drive, but my son can rig a good tow on anything. He's a prick, (I'm so proud) but I can usually get him to help out. :D

Something I have run into on the 8" is the retainer will sometimes spin and chew the axle and retainer up to where the axle can work its way out. I had a '68 Mustang that did this and I had to tack the retainer to the axle.

We love ya Bob, I'm sure everyone will get up and running.
We'll see Maggie and you in Austin on Thursday.

  25. Uhhh, youre already on the list, official or not.
Remember those hoodlums in your shop changing Jerry's transmission at the HAMB drags.:D :D

    Thanks Again for that.

And I hope Unkle Bob gets it all squared away and makes his lunch with Rashy, he gets kinda fussy when he doesn't get fed on time.

Bob just called me and wanted me to post that he appreciates all the phone calls and offers of assistance and wanted me to thank everyone. Mick AKA: Gas Stove Bolt is a volcational teacher and has offered his shop and everything else thats needed to get it fixed. Him and Bob have talked and made arrangements for in the morning. Bob said to pass along that everything is handled and thanks.

It looks like I found this post on the winning stretch, that's great to hear.. God forbid anything falls through on the shop, but if any emergency loose ends pop up and you find you need anything don't hesitate to call, we'll make sure you hit the ground running. <!--[endif]-->

Sorry to hear about your delay friend - but you're in good hands in Kansas City.
