I agree with povertyflats- Even without the sideview pic, it looks to long. Maybe measure the distance from the back of the cab to the tire along the bottom edge of the bed and cut the rear portion to the same measurement.
I think a little cut, something like 4"-6"in would be perfect. But not to much, It looks good long. Kinda 40's
I like a little longer bed length, but that might be a bit much. Just take about 8" or 10" and center the axle under bed.
If you are going to have a bed in it and actually use it to put "stuff" in keep it long. If it's "just for looks" and a tank and battery then do like Mac said and cut it so there's the same amount of bed behind as there is in front of the axle. I'd leave it long, I like a bit of luggage, tool and cooler room.
If the bed had subrails and fender formers it would look good the length it is. It looks too slab sided as is...even if you shorten it. Neal
I agree with poopstain. I like the beds a little longer, but from this angle it doesn't look like the rear tire is in the right spot.
another vote for keeping it the same length but adding the fender formers/ subrails. if you cut it, its going to look like you cut the *** end off a cool car. as for the wheel well arch, id suggest just turning the bed around and relocating the tail gate to the other end itll proabably get it preety close
Mine has sub rails and carraige bolts in the fender holes and is the same length, and looks great. Those little things make a big differance.--TV
I went through this dilemma with my first 34 PU. I stood a piece of plywood up against the bed. I kept moving it back and forth until I found MY sweet spot. I left it there for a week or so as I worked on other things. I think the eye likes to see the wheel centered on the bed but the longish bed gives it that early hot rod look that I personally like.
What he said. Youy might try a few more inches but keep it long enough to put stuff in. It makes things easier.
It looks like I have some soul searching on cutting or not cutting.I think about 4-5 inches may do it.Thanks all
To me it looks like the Wheels are to close to the cab... Kinda "T" Bucket style. And the bed looks to high, Maybe try lowering the bed a lil and see what happens. I personally would have made the wheel base a Lil longer in the back to match up with the bed.. But thats just Me.
You won't hear me say this often, but this RPU needs BIAS PLYS! The issue is not the bed, it is the short round tires! Fronts are too wide and short.......rears are just too damn short! Do a Search for the Rocky33, it had a long bed that worked..........with the right tires.
