I've never been but 4 of us are planning on coming over from NY. Any tips on this swap meet? What to expect, parking, size etc. Probably have to leave at O-dark-30. Any HAMBsters selling??
Hi, You can find out more by going to the stafford springs racetrack webpage and look for coming events. The swap meet is not huge but you can find some good deals there,it can get pretty cold there this time of year so be prepared. Hope this is of some help.
Tip number one, park in one of the local track neighbors yards, costs $5.00 or so and you have instant access to the road home. Took a FULL hour to get out of the track lot the last time I parked there, so much for free parking. They fill the track and infield with vendors plus about the same number of spaces outside the stands. Fair amount of ATV's, lawn equipment, 4x4 stuff, and crap, along with stuff we like. I've made a lot of homeruns on stuff I found there, it's worth the trip.
When I lived in Poughkeepsie NY I went there all the time traffic is a trip ,bring warm clothes . I always got some good deals thier.
Thanks for the parking and traffic tips. What time should we get there? I like to get started early. You may see Jetmek prowling around with a flashlight
You don't really need to go, it's not a very good swap meet. I go every Spring and every Fall. It's a great meet. I usually get there around 6:30 AM, and leave around 2-3. At those times it's easy to park in the lot - no need to park in the yards. Good luck, so long as you're not looking for stuff I need. Pete
I would wait for the Lake Compounce Swap in May. The stafford one seems to be more disapointing every year.
I might go just to get my ass out of the house. My be it is a good time to have a meet & greet if you are all going.
I'm going considering I live in that town...mostly as an excuse to start drinking beer before noon. If you've got a 73-87 chevy pickup, that's the swap for you. Ebay killed that meet. Lake Compounce is infinitely better.
BTTT so all of you hoodlums can get your bucks together. Hope it ain't like the Englishtown swap that I was reading on another thread. Thanks for the tips so far.
ah-haaa! i go to lake compounce for chinese pocket bikes and used 4x4 parts! ...straightpipes...hope to see ya sunday
>>>Wear boots. >>> Definitely someone who has been there. Boots are good, as is parking the street (off Turn 4) at one of the local's houses; both sound advice posted above. Al in CT
