How bizarre, it's been on TV quite regularly over here :D

Would be great to get a decent DVD copy of it though.

Don't know about van pipes but it does have straight side pipes along the bottom of the running boards. Always thought they looked cool on that but rubbish on most other things :D

  2. I had been wanting to see it forever, too. My bootleg picture quality is pretty crappy. Does this DVD have any extras, interviews, " making of ", etc.?

  3. jim this is good news. to anyone that hasn't seen it, not only are there cool cars, it's also has a good story line.

I bought tis movie about a month ago from Amazon, Ive ben checking for years and to my surprise it showed up. Its worth it just to see the '34. This and American Grafitti were my two major influensces when I was a kid.

No extras besides the printed insert Pete Chapouris has included with a story on the Coupe and how it affected the formation of Pete & Jake's. Thanks all! Jim

I got the book "Pete & Jakes" from the Petersen Museum. Good action shots of the "California Kid". A side note said that the flames had just been put on the car. During filming, Charlie Sheen walked up the fenders with his cowboy boots. After the shoot, the car had to be re-painted.

that's ok, i'd rather give my $$ to jim.
i'd rather support the so-cal speed shop than mtv.

  20. Just placed my order at SO-CAL website.

It was bedtime for me when this movie was originally on (hehe). My Dad talked about it like he did American Graffiti so I always knew of the movie, but have never seen it. He was never a hot rodder, but he's a teen of the late 50s and early 60s.

My wife's gonna be pissed :)

You're shitting me Chad, Really? How the hell I saw this on TV and some of you guys haven't, I'll never know. And I'm not talking about its original air date. I'm sure it was TBS some time in the mid-ninties. I remember thinking Sheen was to "old" to be a hotrodder. But what the hell did I know, billet and tweed were still cool to me then.

DVD was in the mail today. This movie was made the year the wife and I were married. We just finished watching it with our 24 year old daughter. She even liked it. Thanks man, and I loved the inserts.

i've watched it 4 times since i got mine on wed.
i like to watch for mistakes and stuff...like when ever they show the speedo, the mileage never changes.
look close, and the sidepipes are not hooked up....the hubcaps appear to have small dents in them in some shots, and in others they are perfect. i assume they threw on a set of "junker" caps for some of the slide out scenes.
how many cop cars have you ever seen that are 2 doors ??
when the cop is chasing the kid around the curve, check out the I beam on the back of the kid...to keep the cop car push bar from accidentally hitting the body.
when the cop asks the kid to open the hood, you can clearly see the ford motor in it, the close up is the graffiti coupe's engine.
the kid is dirty in alot of scenes, but the scenes right ater, it's all cleaned up and he never went to a car wash.
the drivers door makes alot of noise when he closes it, and sometimes he has to open and close it twice to get it all the way closed.
i like to watch for stuff like that in movies.
i forgot how good this movie actually is. it actually has a good plot.
