Fairlane 500 that is! Slightly OT. It's a four door...yeah I know, a real Marcus mobile...but it's a damn nice car. Going to be her daily driver in a little while. The first thing we did was remove the tint, next is getting the raised letters moved to the inside. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6230&item=2481363267&rd=1
Nothin' wrong with four doors, I say! very clean car... I like it! I've had a few old Fords, fun cars.
you know, I've told myself that in the future, my wife will pick up the kids from school in a fairlane or galaxy four door that's sitting on the ground with wild paint and nice chrome steelies... that is if i'm not driving it for the day! I dig it man! good find! -TonyBagadonutts
Nothing wrong with a Fairlane, I had a 66 GTA 390 car and a 64 2dr hartop,I had lotsa of fun with those cars.I sure do miss the GTA tho.
Hell, I usedta drive a 66 two door Fairlane with a 289 automatic...they make DAMN fine dailys! Good score!!!!
I had a 66 hardtop (390, four speed) the same color. Nice car, but needs disc brakes. Couldn't stop the thing for a damn at 90 mph. Put a lot of miles on it and it was a real dependable car.
It will be a good car for her to drive around in, and she really likes it. It's got the stock 289 and automatic. Pretty much completely stock. The paint is fresh, but they didn't do any bodywork to it, and there are dent's all over. The roof is really wavy, but still...it looks good. I posted last week asking about a front disc conversion, it's planned for the future. The tires are brand new, came with a nice CD player and new speakers. I'm trying to convince her that painting the wheels a cream color will look really good. Anyone care to do some photoshopping? P.S. Should you see this Evil...no lowriders or bling bling hoopties!
[ QUOTE ] a real Marcus mobile [/ QUOTE ] Hey, Marcus digs Fairlanes and Galaxies....Thats cool in my book. Neat car. My first memories were of my mothers Galaxie of the same vintage....I can still remember the patterns on the seat. There's just something about those early-mid sixties Fords... I personally think they are fine machines.
Nice clean driver! Ya know there's a White Wall hiding under them raised white letters. All ya gotta do is figure out a contraption to hold the grinder and spin the tire so ya can cut it down evenly...

[/ QUOTE ] Naw, Dr J...alls ya gotta do is "curb park" it a few dozen times...then switch the tires side to side and do it again...POOF...Instant WHite Walls! (Always worked for me, anyway! )
They call them "Wifey Whites". You usually see them on the passenger side of big SUV's around here. Nice car though, but my next question is what happened to the Riv?
Eric, talk to MarkX on Tue, he is getting that V8 Maverick for the drivetrain and it sounds like the disc brake front will bolt on to the fairlane. 5 lug and all. TZ
[ QUOTE ] but my next question is what happened to the Riv? [/ QUOTE ] The Riviera got eBayed to some old fart in South Carolina. He wrecked his, and is gonna combine it with the one we sold him to make a good one. The Rivi needed too much work to be a good driver...it was kinda worn out. Learned our lesson on that one...and for what we sold the Rivi for, we bought the Fairlane (in MUCH better condition).
looks clean!.......i say hamber it a few or ten inches ......grinder to the letters! She'll be a happenin deal!! Just went and looked at a 66 wagoon the other day(it was junk)oh well!!!! Tell her to have fun !!!
I grew up in the back seat of a 66 Fairlane 4 door just like that one, except it was faded light blue. Ah the memories.
