Hot damn, what a fantastic link. The pics are incredible!
As a young kid I went to that dragstrip once. Got to see the wheelstander "Backup Pickup" in 1969 or '70. I'm the little gaffer on the right.

You know, for a country that has less people than New York City, we still got some cool shit up here. I wish people wouldn't be so arrogant and think that it's freezing up here 'we live in igloos' and bacon comments, mountie outfits, "EH" "EH" bullshit etc... i know some things about Canada are queer, but not all of us like hockey or curling or lumberjack jackets- some of us are homegrown hotrodders just like americans. Sorry been thinking about this had to give my 2 cents after a comment from a fellow American rodder kinda pissed me off.

Thanks for posting the Link. Had been to the site before and forgot to bookmark it. Could not find it again.

    Very cool history and pics.

  7. WOW! I remember seeing Back Up run!!!
Every weekend Pops would drag us out there and thrash a '55 Pontiac straight axle him a pal campiagned for Towne Pontiac. Man do I remember the smoke from burnouts! The smell still reminds me of soggy hot dogs and warm Coke in the stands. And I worked at Softys Speed Shop in the mid 80s.
Funny thing is alot and I mean ALOT of those cars are still resting in garages and backyards out there. I left years ago, went back, and left again for good, but I've seen more than a few rails and gassers left over from Bison days. I think Viking Raceway does old time drags now. Brings back memories for sure.

The Bison site was featured on another thread on here a month or so ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I go back every few days, just to refresh myself - when I get to jonesin' for a fix of good honest race cars, it's easier than digging out all those old photos and magazines...I'm so grateful these guys put up this site...

I came across this page because my sister goggled my Dad's name and this is one of the pages she came up with... FYI my father (John Adams) will be turning 67 this year, he now races a 70 Duster which runs 6 .75 in the 8th and can still compete with the best of them!! Go Dad Go!!!

Here's my Dad's car (uncle driving) at Bison in '68 up from the Fargo area.
Pulled from the Bison website page-4. She ran 11.00 ET in this trim.
I have "Sweet Thang" today in the Detroit area and she's under rebuild.....
