Well, I just finshed cutting the cats out of the exhaust, they were basically the only "mufflers" I had. BIG MISTAKE, it's unbearable to drive due to the noise and rotten egg smell. Those Borla headers and cat-back can't come soon enough. On a side note, does anyone know if '01-'04 Corvette headers will bolt onto my '95 LT1? That's what they offered me because they discontinued the LT1 headers.
I'm going to make more of an effort to update this thread. Here is the radiator support I designed today after work. It ties in with the peaked windows and uses the stock Caprice LT1 radiator.
Uh...you mean the guy could think of nothing other than Camaros and Dusters to build for HR? I think they'll be okay. The interesting, off beat stuff all comes from the other guys anyhow. Including the bithin' Kaiser. That wasn't Freiburger... Awesome car, just incredible.
Someone famous once said that if you're not pissing someone off you're not doing it right. Apparently you're doing something right according to your quote in the article. Keep the pix coming. We really don't mind the mechanical pix either. Vance
i now like kaisers. seriously, great lines, awesome car. and the fact that you converted a 4 door, you literally created a cool car.
Great looking car. You nailed the proportions. Did you work from drawings or just the picture in your head?I converted my Hupmobile from a 4 door to a 2 door. Not nealy as ambitious a project as yours. But, a little scary when I cut it in half and shortened it 6". I like your choice of power as well. I'm sold on the efi motors and od trans. I put an ls1 & 4l60e in the Hupp and I have the same cop-car lt1 & 4l60e as you used in my Studebaker convert that I built a few years back. I also like the use of the Capric chassis-good suspension at such little cost. I love your work. Must also admit that I like the more unusual stuff. Gary
I am normally not a big fan of customs, as I have said before, but I do appreciate some Mercs etc. that are done right. In my opinion your car has the potential to be one of the best. This car needs a Caddy under the hood with the right color body and a near stock interior to be one of the best customs ever built. This is only my opinion but I really think you have done something special.
Nice cars Gary. I'm an industrial designer by trade so I have a little bit of knowledge of proportions. I did some sketches and photoshop work to figure thing out before ever touching the car. The LT1/4L60E was an easy choice since I am a B-body enthusiast (94-96 Impala SS and Caprice) and was already familiar with the drivetrain before I built this car. It is very dependable so I can drive it whenever, wherever. Oh, and cutting cars in half is not scary...its fun!
Nope! The 01-04 is the LS series engine... totally different animal. If they had said 92-96 Vette they would bolt up... not saying they would fit your chassis... just bolt up to the head. Very cool hot rod you have there!
Yup I figured it out the hard way. They sent me LS headers, I shipped them right back. Still on stock manifolds for now, but the cat-back sounds nice.
Sorry to put the pressure on ya but as you know, myself, and many others really like and appreciate what you have done. Besides I,d much rather spend your money than mine!
