I came in from the garage to get an "adult-alco" beverage and thought I'd check in. There has to be a better way to coordinate everything! Maybe I have too many interests? My hot rod, hobbying "stuff" (art, carving wood,***embling dioramas, and ?)mechanical tools, carpentry tools, storage and whatever else hides inside the place. Occasionally one has to either toss a grenade in the middle or bite the bullet and sort it all to some sense? Anybody got a better way? So far,the place-for-everything-and-it's-in-its-place ain't working....
First problem, you need to get a fridge in the garage !!! Take over that spare room, and everything that isnt car related get it outta there and build a hobby room in the spare room. Tell the little lady that's the way it is, she'll be fine with it........
Hey Toqwik, I think you're right! It's gonna come down to that or a bigger garage! The mini-fridge is in place now! I think there just might be too much junk in the garage?! Nice to meet ya! I'm up here near ***berland. How're things over in wild and wonderful West Virginia?
Got a ba*****t? That's where I do oil painting and woodworking. I had a two car garage and it was so full with my (car) stuff that we had to park the DD's outside, the wife wasn't happy in the winter, so I built another twocar garage attached to the first one lenghtwise. No i have a SHOP where ONLY car stuff goes and a garage for the DD's and the lawn and garden ****. Of course it just took me a half hour to get the **** cleared away from my '46 p.u. to back it out for the first ride this year!
It's simple. Burn the ***** down. J/K. What size garage is this? perhaps you could make different areas for different hobbies? Or take a look at all of your hobbies and maybe pick two or three that you really enjoy, and forget about the others. Or get a youngster you know interested in them and give your stuff to them.
We moved in a year ago, still getting stuff sorted. But, I thinned everything out before we started building and am happy to say...........................I have more **** now! Time to build a shed for the the yard stuff, I could fit another Model A in that space.
Hello all, After posting the thread,I realized it was best set for the Garage Journal, but we all must share similar likes and problems? Thanks for putting up with it. It's a 30'x30' garage with 1/4th studio,1/4th hot rod parking with bench and tool boxes. The other half is the nightmare. Storage, staging for projects (inside and out-of-the-garage) and tools. Since starting last night, most of the lesser "stuff" has gone up in the rafters or just been recycling fodder. Getting insul board to cover the house prior to siding,50 gl*** blocks(couldn't let them be trashed)wiring and electrical stuff...whew! Too many interests... Hope we all get more garage space and hot rods too!
In some cases, like mine, I've narrowed it down to another problem. Like you I have many hobbies (and other responsibilities), car, wood, home remodeling, fixing some 'ol rental houses, kids bikes, go-kart ect... In a small three car garage I have a place for everything. Welders to ladders..... ...BUT! I've learned, I could only have one project going at a time. Which ****s, but that's all I can tolerate with sawdust or welding, climbing over body parts on the floor or staining some piece of furniture. With alot of things going I just can't move around. Then it's a pain in the *** to get a certain tool on the other side of the garage. Just don't have the time or the room for all of it. Soooooo, I just do one thing at a time. By the by, don't get rental garages. I've had up to 7 at a time full of **** and that costs money. Hope this helped...
I've been seriously considering dragging everything outside and then sorting it out and putting it away when I take it back in. At least I'm far enough off the highway so that people driving by won't be stopping to check out the "yard sale".
WV ****s. Rule number 1, if you ain't touched it in 6 months, and you haven't been looking for it, toss it. Buy a storage building, and get all that **** out of your garage. Buy a big enuf building so you can work in it for your wood hobby. Garages are for cars, PERIOD.
