I have standard carter fuel pump and stock rigid fuel line and everytime i thread in the br*** fitting to hold on the fuel line into the pump it gets m***ive leaks.I saw before on car tv shows they used like a sealant like a gasket sealer or epoxy that you can use on threads but not sure what it was or is that will best seal this.I tried teflon tape and loc tight and no luck still leaks.
It is easy to get the fitting started crooked on those in the tight quarters, I would bet you have the threads bunged up..........but it is just a guess online like this.
There is a sealant called fuel lube.I have used in general aviation shops, don't remember who made it.Check with NAPA or Aviall.
Just checked and aircraftspruce.com has it in their catalog as EZ Turn lubricant. This stuff works great and can be used on threads or gaskets.
I know, I know, it's not what you asked . . . but if you want to be done with it, you could always just fix (not patch) what's leaking.
The threads on the line don't do the sealing, the flair on the end of the line does. The only way to get it to seal is to have the nut put enough pressure on the flare to compress the flare. Like it's stated above, make sure the threads aren't crossthreaded. Some antiseize or lube on the threads sure won't hurt anything, but sealant on the threads is pretty useless. Larry T
Are you sure you are not screwing an inverted flair nut into an npt female fuel pump thread. That will never seal. Look into the fuel pump and make sure there is a seat for the tubing. Most aftermarket fuel pumps have NPT in their bodys.
Couldn't stop a leak at the fuel pump on a flathead and got a tube called Seal All gas and oil sealant at the local Ace Hardware, and it worked like a charm and still is.
its not broken just leaking .There is no dmage to the threads.I will have to see if flare fitting is in pump.
