Check this out! I just got my trunk lid back from our local louver guy and man do I love it!

I had these punched by Diver Dan in Springfield, OH. He punched 153 curved louvers in it for a mere $38.25!!! That's right, $.25 EACH!!! And he got it done sooner then he quoted me. Dan has been doing louvers for over 30 years and he uses the same press he built about 25 years ago with a manual hydraulic ram! PM me and I'll forward his phone number.

I'll post a couple nicer daylight photos tomorrow.

they're horrible, ruined the car...i'll be a nice guy and take it off your hands for double what you paid for the louvres so you don't have to look at it anymore ;)

look fabulous man, i'd say you got a traditional price on that one :D

My goal is to have a car that looks a little more at home on the drag strip then the street, but with tags. I'm getting there... slowly.

Around here, they'd charge ya that much just to fill out the paperwork, then at least $65 an hour... you got a screaming deal!

  16. Hey Vance: Nice looking lid . . . can't believe he did the work for that price. Did you cut out the inner structure before you gave it to him? I'm in Columbus . . . we'll have to hookup some day. Your project is further along than mine - hope to have mine on the road by the end of the summer. It won't be done, but hopefully moving down the road in one form or another. I try to do quite a bit of work each week . . . just seems that work and other drama keep getting in the way!

Do you go to the Columbus GoodGuys event?

I cut out the inner support and stripped the lid down to bare steel for Dan. That was quite a task as the inside of the lid was covered with 30 year old rac**** ****. Talk about a mess.

If you wanna pop over some weekend day, just PM that week. I'm sure we can work something out. I do go to GG and this year I'll be driving thru the gate, NOT walking!

Nice job Vance! Looks killer! Had Dan slaughter mine in Feb. Can't beat the price AT ALL! He did 208 in my hood. If any of you guys need stuff punched, this guy is the real deal.

No and I never even thought of it when I was out there. Dan has a regular day job that is about 2 miles from my house so he even delivered the lid to me when he finished it.

Regarding his press; I can say that it was hand made from drops back in the early 80's and has like a hand-pumped 5 ton column style jack for pushing.

I'm still amazed he charges what he does and does this all manually. Talk about doing something for the love of the art...
