Well, I have to say my brother is the **** when it comes to photoshop. I asked him to chop my 53 so I could see what it would look like. Since Flat paint is hard to duplicate I was thinking of repainting the roof white once I chopped her. Here are some different looks. Here it is now: Chopped: Chopped all flat black: Chopped flat black w/white roof: Chopped w/white top (I'm leaning this way)
although i think it looks beautiful as it is. (what color blue is that?,, hot rod flatz?) but the final chop in blue with the white top looks real purdy.. you gonna go kustom with the tail lights?
I like the HT's unchopped, but if you want to chop it may I suggest a less '********' chop? It looks a little low, to me anyways
It is the Hotrod flatz blue. I'm a big fan of black also, but the car is named "the LLC" named after my mom who just recently p***ed (see my signature). Her favorite color was blue, so it will stay blue. This winter, when I do chop, it I will take out 3 inches maybe 3.5" if I can squeeze it.
Thanks man, we will be down in San Antonio(actually Boerne) Fri-Sun at the rivercity bike fest. You gonna check it out?
That looks cool, Man. But why stop at the top? I've been spending entirely too much time messing around with Photoshop lately, and when I saw your car, I couldn't resist cutting it up big time. Here's what I came up with...a '53 bobtail coupe.
i say leave as is...the hardtops are low stock...but like someone already said, if you must chop it, do a subtle chop
I agree, the the absence of the B Pillar the roofs proportions end up looking too low. I would go a little less, and it would also help the rear gl*** flow nicer into the roof.
Another vote for a subtle chop. The photo shop chop is to low I would never have the balls to slice a hard top
too drastic of a chop in the photoshop pics,,,, the hardtops already have a lower roofline than the 210s, etc..and look nice unchopped..... look at a picture of the moonglow if you want to see PERFECT proportions for a chop on these cars....... the blue and white combo looks nice,,maybe do the roof in pearl white,,,,,
The photochop is only to see how my car looks chopped compared to un-chopped and color combos, its not to scale, it's just a look.
When you chop these you can slide the rear gl*** opening forward and keep the fullsize rear window. It moves the window trim forward almost to the quarter window trim. Looks pretty nice done that way. The rear package tray gets shortened and the panel between the trunk and window gets lengthened. Then when ur in the back seat you can look up out the rear window!
I agree..the hardtops look like they already have a small chop to them...if youre going to do it, do it mildly.....dont get me wrong...when I have the cash, my hardtop is getting chopped too!I need to have someone photochop mine for me now!...
Im with you on this one.It looks great with the white top...You have my wife sold on 53's now,at least I have a chance of getting one of those instead of a Mer...Looks get cant wait to see it finished
Yeah at the harley place. Here is the link. www.rivercitybikefest.com It wasn't working a minute ago, probably server issues.
GM hardtops of that vintage already have a nice, low roofline... maybe don't cut it(?). As for the color scheme, I like that blue, with the white roof. Maybe add some Watson-style, '60s-ish, scallopy flame patterns over the white. Sickness... -ns
Dude, I really like your car unchopped. It has great lines. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't chop it at all.
