I think the 16" wheels would be a great addition and I can't imagine your grandfather objecting. You might want to lower the suspension with the smaller diameter wheel/tire combination to keep the overall profile in proportion.

That is a nice vehicle. What makes it even better is that it has been in the same family since new.

16" wheels and a 4" drop axle would make that truck look perfect, just enough to keep it stock, but rodded at the same time.

Did you love and respect your Grand Father and what he obviously held precious?

    I wouldn't do anything that isn't a bolt-on reversible upgrade.
And keep ALL the old parts to put back on when you realize everything there is what it is for a reason.
    That's Tradition.

Man, I wouldn't change a thing on that truck except the oil and the plugs once in a while. Beeautifulll! Very nice color and looks factory new in the photos.

Yeah, if it ain't broke don't fix it. It's great the way it is. Whatver you change, make sure you can put it back so that someday someone else can admire it as much as you do.

Wow is that nice. I concur, 16" wheels and a drop axle and you're all set.

Some things are not to be messed with. That P/U is one such thing. Like has been said, only bolt on stuff and keep the stuff you take off. Talk about a history!?

I concur with the most of you I really dont want to do much. But I would like to put 16 inch wheels on it. My father and I restored the truck 31 years ago the paint looks good but its a 20 ft paint job ( starting to flake and peel ) an old laquer paint job. It runs very well my grandkids love to ride in it,,Thanks for your compliments. ..Tim
