55-56 Clipper. My favorite car. Did you know that the later Clipper didn't have "Packard" anywhere on it? It was going to be it's own line just about the time that Packard and Stude merged to make the infamous Packardbaker.

The underhood pic is a Buick, the grille pic is a Packard - 2 different cars. Compare the cowls at the windshield base.

There is a 2 door hardtop that's been for sale on Craigslist in my area that is in A LOT better shape. I think he's asking $2500 and it's a 54 or 55.

That Packard should have electricley operated self leveling torsion bar suspension front and rear.

  16. Ole dan,

I thought '56 was the first year for the torsion bar suspension (great ride by the way).

YES, the engine is not from Packard- looking back through my pictures that engine is a NH from a mid-50's Buick, good eye

must have been from this car, which is next pic in my folder

I don't think so- the Ambassador came stock with a Holley model 4150 4-bbl carb that year. But anything's possible, did anyone make an alum. intake for the AMC 327 ?

or are you talking about the Buick NH ?

now here's one more that has me stumped- I thought this was a Mopar RB or B block, but there's no distributor up front now that I look at pic- and what is that, a carburetor, or primitive injection ?

Well, the Buick is a '57, correct? Would that make it a 322 nailhead, or were they bigger by then? I know we don't even care about the buick- but it's a good thing to know!!!
