Lookin for a 3 speed floor shift tranny to bolt directly into my f100,anyone know what ford car I can pull from. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
Hey, I've been lookin' for a top loader 3spd. trans for my '54 F100 for 'bout twenty five years! The 215-223 engines were only built with side loader, collum shift 3 spd. trans My 4spd T98, in the truck now, is on its' last days. Later Ford 3spds were built with top loaders, bolted to six cylinders, but they all used a different bell housing than the 215-223s. Maybe someone knowa of a cae trans.? Swankey Devils C.C. Converting the column shift to a floor shifter is pretty easy. Fellow HAMBer Skajaquada and I converted my son's 65 F-100 a few weeks ago in an afternoon. I had found the shifter on a clearance table for $20 at pepboys over a year ago. Finally had to install it because the yoke on the column that holds the shifter was cracked and I didn't want it to break off while my son was driving.
I hear ya, what about the HD tranny's I am finding in the f350's ect, that ran the strait sixes, will these be worth grabbin, and yeah I would like to bolt in a later tranny , but the bell housing swap and shaft swap may be too much, I would opt to rebuild the column shift, thanks a bunch!!!
