Sounds like you and I started with the same car. Try givin these folks a call. http://wheatbeltbuick.com/ @ 580-855-2449 It's a "mom & pop" Buick yard. They are very helpful and willing to look for the small stuff. Good luck.
Post a wanted ad in the cl***ifieds. Unless you're asking for something totally oddball, there's usually someone who can help you out.
This place has all new parts. http://www.bobsautomobilia.com/ Here is another good link to bookmark. http://www.buickpartsdirectory.com/ There is a place in Sacramento that's named the Buick Farm (I think). I have bought lots of stuff from that guy. Very reasonable. There is a fellow around here that may have some stuff. I got my port holes from him last year. Post a wanted ad, you'll get some play.
I'd recommend wheatbelt as well as I have had success with them in the past. Too bad they couldn't help you this time around. You could also try www.buickpartspage.com.
You realize, I hope that your pieces are going to be darn expensive... especially the pot metal. Brace yourself. You also should know that the bigger-series and smaller-series cars are different trim-wise. I know the headlight rings are not the same, and it could be that the tail-light housings are different as well. You should have luck in getting the sweep-spear trim to work from a two-dr hard-top to your two-door sedan. But windshield trim (front and back) will not swap. For that you need a sedan or wagon. A lot interchanges with '54 as well. And remember, Ebay can be your friend... You might contact a guy named Steve Rostam from the Los Angeles chapter of the Buick Club. He and his dad have restored a bunch of 55's. A nice guy. The website gave me this address: stevecl***ic@earthlink.net Good luck, and have fun with a cool car, Doug Cook
The tail light housings are different lengths, I've been struggling to find a replacement for my 55 2 door special, as the previous owner had damaged one, and the closest replacement he found was about an inch shorter than it needs to be to match the one on the other side.... Good luck, Drewfus
Just an FYI to anyone that cares... I thought the 56 taillights looked a helluva lot better than the 55s so I "m***aged" the metal behind the taillights so the 56s would fit. Within a few minutes... VIOLA... 56 taillights on a 55. Keeps a buncha people guessin. Actaully it has surprised me how many people ask how I got a 55 front bumper on a 56. LOL
