After 20 years in storage, my Essex made it's first trip under it's own power today. I have a few minor things to fix but it runs great!

Thanks Steve! The truck is an old hotrod that a childhood buddy built in 1979. That was the summer I turned 16 and got my drivers license, and the Essex was the first hotrod I ever got to drive. It's been hiding in storage since 1988. He finally decided to sell it this year and let me have first crack at it. I was honored to have the opportunity to be the one to put it back on the road.

The cab and frame are 1927 Essex, the rest of the sheetmetal is all 1930 Chevy. It runs a Dodge 225ci slant-6/auto, and has a Corvair front end. VERY 70's. LOL I don't plan to change the outward appearance much aside from new wheels/tires, but in the future I want to build a new chassis for it.

Not yet. Those are the old bias-plys that were on the car when they installed the Corvair front end in 1980. I plan to change the wheels & tires in the near future.

Nice to see something different, looks kool. Must be great to get it back on the road after twenty years. Now, drive the ass of it to make up for lost time.

Neat looking truck! BTW...look at the thread titled "Old Rear Fenders" and see if you recognize them. A bunch of us are going nuts trying to figure out what they are...you might have a clue.
    Thanks,
    Jack

    Thanks!
I just had a look at those fender pics...not sure what they could be from. They're quite a bit different than the fenders on my truck.

I love your car! It would be cool getting a pic of the two of them side by side. :D

Ya never know! I don't know what runs I'll be attending this summer, probably mostly local stuff. It will depend alot on what I get for a job out here.
I think I've seen your car being built back in 2003. Pat brought me by one day when I was passing through town. Neat car, can't wait to see it on the road!
