Other than that car being totally awesome...the bench seat and column shift make it even cooler.

I believe that car was originally a 390 z-code car not a 427. The power steering and automatic transmission was not available with the 427(Q or R code). I saw this car at Carlisle a couple of years ago. It was very impressive in person.

That's really cool. You should see if you can get some stories out of him about running it.

Sitting in a wooden box in my friend Mels garage is a Turbonique Drag Axel. The wooden box is the box that it came in. He wants to sell it, but obviously it isn't going to be cheap. He showed it to me after I told him the story about the auction for this Galaxie. He also has three Turbonique super chargers that he wants to let go of.

What has become of Tobacco King?
Is it in a collection somewhere to be viewed by the public?

I still have my April '74 Cycle Magazine with the interview article with Zach Reynolds, "The Contemporary Collector"- quite a character, who, BTW, hated cigarettes. At the time, "no fewer than 32 motorcycles, keeps ten automobiles in hermetically-sealed garages, maintains an incredibly complex Ham radio station, is interested in stunt flying and keeps a medieval torture chamber in his attic." Bikes ranged from a Norton Manx in front of his living room fireplace to a couple drag bikes in the front hall including a Top Fueler, another fueler in his bedroom, an MV Agusta Sport, several built Triumphs and early Honda 750's, Kawi 500's and 750's, early Sportsters, a few other Nortons, Velocette, etc.- many of which decorated with his personal decal, a "Dr. Cancer' cigarette pack, along with death's heads, black cats..

I bought a drag axle new in the box today from the man that bought it in the 60's, and would like to find out some info on them. And a value or what they might have sold for.

  20. Hey I know that guy!

Sold at the auction to the guy selling it... hard to explain but he couldn't let it go...and Mike Zenor got to drive that Galaxy across the auction block a few years ago... he also is a "Turbonique" owner and affectionato!
