Well I thought I really had a good plan when I started and liked the work I had done. One day I walked in to the shop and decided I didnt like any thing about my build. I have come too far and spent too much to start over now.I'm thinking about letting the model a set awhile to rethink the situation. On the other hand I have a 49 chevy pickup that is a stock driver. Been thinking about putting my s-10 5 speed in it to drive this summer. I dont think I'll do any mods. to it other than the trans. It shuoldn't take more than a day to get it going and the model a will take months to finish at the rate I'm going. What do you all think. I am in need of some motivation from every one. Thanks for listening to me snivel. Joe
Hell yea,i started on a 53 buick put a camaro sub in the front end put the rearend under it had the drive shart built and payed 1800.00 for a plug n go air system and installed it.Then started on my 29 sedan and finished it.Now i am clueless has to what to do with the 53 i lost total intrest.Pretty stupid huh
I'll take the A off your hands... and if you need motivation, just check out carnut, there are a bunch of different ways that you could go.
I started building a '29 tub on '32 rails then found a 5 window '32 body. While working on this channelled 5 window I found my avitar and needed money to buy it. I sold my 5w body, got the original car and ordered a Brookville body to build a full fendered car on the frame that I started to build as a tub. Wonder why it takes me so long to finish my stuff?
sometimes you just gotta breathe... (i hafta do a lot of it) put the 5 speed in the truck and put a smile on your face for the summer. drive the truck to some shows, you will get inspiration for the A. good luck. if it helps, i'm SMACK in the middle of a '65 mustang for my wife... lotsa new parts in boxes and no motivation to finish it because i have MY stuff needing attention. but i love her so i will march on!
I know how that is, I had my motor in out of my wagon several times and kept changing things. Its a car guy thing!
i thought i was going to s10 clip my 51 ford then i decided not to after i cut the front body mount. still thinking of what to do. i like to think of it as hot rod evoltion but my wife says its indicisiveness.
I *** is itching to get stuck into my '34 Chevy but I keep having to tell myself not to and get the '53 done as it is nearly finished. Tonight I wanted to work on a bracket but couldn't find the angle grinder's spanner so I packed up and came inside.
Hell Yes!! I started on 1950 Chevy Styleline did all my suspension work Mustange II, C Notch, Bagged the Rear, Wheel tires, etc. Then put it on the back burner for a 54 Chevy Truck which I did all the same suspension work to it. Now I got like 7 or 8 grand in two rides but neither runs. I'm a dumb***!!
Certainly have! I had wanted to mini-tub my 1963 Nova....got the car painted.....and then got talked into doing a full tub on the car....which would have been nice to figure out prior to painting it! I know a 63 Pro Street Nova is kinda OT here....but it does apply to the thread! Funny thing is....now that I am mid Pro-street treatment...kinda wish I had gone the G***er route.....funny how decisions can come back to haunt ya or bite ya right in the ***!
exactly why my roadster is sitting apart. I though I knew what I wanted to do had it mocked up, tore it down to finish the ch***is and changed my mind. Figured I'd let it sit while I figure it out. Went back and finished my '57 Buick instead. Now I'll probably do my International and '38 Buick before I get back to the roadster... I can see in my mind what I want them to be. This is also why I tell customers to write it down. Sketch it all out and then we can talk.
Over the eight years it took to build my roadster,I`m convinced I probably built the car twice. With all the modifications, it just seemed to go on and on.I probably sold it in my mind 100 times I was so fed up.An inch is better than a mile in the right direction.Take your time and get away from it for a bit. When you get back at her she will be there waiting.Keep on keepin on...Time-Bomb John or visit me at www.timebombs.ca and you will see what I mean....
Seems like it takes 10 times the push to finish a project or phase of a project as it does to start. Marty McF.
An easier question would be "has anyone not changed their mind ?" That would be the record shortest thread on the HAMB
Ever change your mind in mid build ? Only every build to date. And most of the ones that I haven't started yet too.
ditto pinstriper40 , i'm in the middle of stripping and prepping my wagon for paint , i change my mind on color , and paint type at least 10 times a day. and probably wont know till the day i'm standing at the paint shop with check book in hand.
