to show the distance between whatever heads and the block. More to come, but i warn you, they are sad.
It was in good running condition when the building\garage burned down. Some of the buildings roof panels collapsed on it and the one in the next pics too. This was the owners late fathers truck, and was very drivable before..... And in the one in the far corner was also his dads, and in running condition as well. He keeps saying he's going to try to fix them but he's not doing too well himself, the've been sitting like this for 2 or 3 years now. He wont sell anything model A....
I wonder what bolt pattern those artillery wheels are. Tons of stuff worth saving there. Really a shame about the fire though.
The I beam is not going anywhere, there is alot of framework there (above and across) that cannot be seen. I might be able to make a trip down there to these parts in a month or two, no $$$ right now. If there is something you want and it would be worth my 2 hour trip for you to get it and worth putting up with the guy for it... let me know, Don't make any crucial plans based on any of these parts though, cause I have no clue when Id get there again. Still more to come, photobucket is slow.
save anything old and classic. Wahtever rims flatheads juked cars ect. Even if its junked we can fix it.
Everything old in there is worth more than scrap price. I am willing to save anything but I think those model A are way beyond restoring by the way they are melted and hammered but could still yield some good body panels for repsir or possibly be sold to someone looking to build a cut up racecar.
I think they "could" be repaired, but the amount of labor involved wouldn't be worth it. He doesn't have the skill or the money to get them fixed, but he won't sell anything off of them. I am tempted to ask him how much for a truck load of whatever I can fit on it, one lump sum. Just got to wait till he's been drinking. I got my chevy truck cab and ALOT of other stuff in trade for a handmade harley davidson blanket, but he'd been hitting the vodka.....
Oilcan Harry, tell me more about this rare w 12 flathead, sounds like your refering to the whole motor, not the two odd ball heads on the motor. The two heads that are on each bank of the motor dont fit it, the one in the center is just laying there.
Its near mount airy. I'd tell you exact but I have to get directions every time I go, never went the same way twice.
Id grab the trunk off the model a and all the artilly wheels and the spoke wheels and i would take the model a s to if there cheap but its hard to tell from the pics . frames are worth saving, banjo rear ends
Hey man where the heck in NC is this?! I didnt even know we had anything like this around! Its sad i get excited over crap like this haha but some people on the west coast have it so much better or so i hear
I'd buy everything he has thats for a model A, But like I said before he wont sell anything from them. Keeps saying he's going to fix them.
MY Airy.....dang I was in "Mayberry" last year, wish I could have found that place, would have had to make a side trip!
You cant even tell he has any cars in it from the road, just looks like a overly tall building built inside the shell of a burned out building and alot of random scrap laying around. Then in the back of the property he has alot of the goodies.
The car on top of the '70s Ford looks to be a '32 Chevy, with a little later wheels on it. Which would also help explain the lack of body. I don't see much worth crying over, I let them scrap a flathead a few weeks ago that had been sitting out loose like that. The wire wheels are a dime a dozen. The Plymouth coupe would make a good stock car body. The A's are a shame, but he's never going to fix them, he can't even bother to throw some Rustoleum on them so they don't rust to paper thin nothing. The A coupe would be worth fixing if it was cheap, but I wouldn't try to use any of the mechanical stuff from the burned cars. Some of the other pieces, tin and cars in the last set of pictures look worth messing with. But things like that are going to scrap every day. It took half an hour to get a check for the car we scrapped Thursday - it was busy, they were lined up right to the end of the driveway with loads of who knows what, and there were a couple decent non-HAMB cars in the pile out back that shouldn't have been there.
first pic is of a 32 chevy, or atleast what's left of it. if he's not selling the A stuff any idea if he's selling the chevy stuff? I'm in need of a frame, was that a car or truck....PM heading your way...
