I had a guy talking to me today and he mentioned that my little green car I show up to work in every now and then (63 Comet) reminds him of his Dad's boat. What? Surely you're kidding? Nope. I googled it. And let me say I like what I see! Apparently only 92 were ever made. Of those 92 about 50 or so are still around. They can go for some serious $$$ but they sure are fun to look at! Check out the *****in Shift knob! (attachment for the ski rope) It's got fins!
I love these old Chris Crafts. Growing up in Michigan, and being around the Great Lakes all my life Ive always noticed similarities in cl***ic cars and old wooden boats. Fibergl*** boats are like of modern plastic cars, They lack the craftsmenship and feel of something handmade, and they are all so generic and lack true styling. There are tons of old dry docked wooden boats in marinas around the state, which is similar to going through an old auto junk yard. Its a great time on a lazy summer day.
That is a fantastic boat!! I don't see many of those down here on the South Texas coast and it's good to see one of the old cl***ics. I think the steering wheel and column would look great in my Model A. The fins may have actually serviced a purpose when you look at the picture, they may have been used to keep the water out of the back seats during a tight turn. If you've ever ski'ed(sp?) and had to ride in that seat you'll know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the thread.
