Whats the measurement from the front x member to the center of the engine mounting holes on the water pumps?
    Sorry 32 ford chassis.
And what angle should the flaty be sitting at when installed in the chassis? [IMG] [IMG]

Hey jugghead, I can put a level on the air cleaners if you like or a head if that would help?

Are you using the original K member/trans mount? If so, just mock it up in back and the front locates itself--just put the mount plates under the holes. For angle, the front of crank should aim at the hole for handcrank in the little bearing thing that goes in the front U bolt top. If you know anyone with a complete '32 Ford eight, try to borrow the original front mount forgings. They bolt onto later flatheads and will locate the engine on the original '32 mount pads while you build tabs to use the later pump brackets. The old way was Hurst A-28 frame mounts, which would be easily duplicated as in A V8's book.

Thanks Bruce but far out man you should be called the riddler.
l am using the orig K-member but im puuting a 5 sp behind the flathead and so lve lost the orig 3 sp positioning.
So....lve put in a new A front crossmember and have made up brackets similar to the AV8 book but dont know where to weld them in, 42" from the K seems a little close to the radiator to me, but l could be wrong.
l saw a pic on here a while ago and they had it from the front X-member but l didnt save it damn it.
Anyone confirm the 42" would be great, not that l doubt you cont-john just want to be sure.

I measured that stuff for nealinca a little time ago. don't know if he still has the dimensions. The front mounts want to be different than in Mike's book because the surface that the engine mount biscuit sits on wants to be an inch or so below the top of the frame. The bottom of the engine mount pads on the pumps wants to be roughly level with the top of the frame. If you are using a 5 speed, it might be easier to have the engine mounts slightly higher (like in Mike's book) to allow the bottom radiator hoses a better run.
Important! there's a typo in Mike's book.. The hole should be 1.25" dia not 1.5".

What 5-spd are you using, a T-5, Supra, or?

I am doing a similar thing (flathead/5spd/32 frame) so I would be real interested in seeing pictures of your chassis. Did you keep the stock/unsplit front wishbone?

Neil, lm using a Celica 5 sp - very cheap down here.
l have the orig k-member, l just cut the top of off and going to fab up another top to weld back in to allow for the box to be removed.
My wish bones are split and sit under the rail and extend back to where the k meets the rail.
My body will be chaneled over the body so lm going to have to have a floor tunnel, no big deal.
So the measurements you gave me are no use, thanks alot though, l just need a measurement from the radiator mounting holes to the water pump/engine mount holes.
