Getting old is mandatory, growing up is optional. It makes me feel good to see these younger guys coming up in hot rodding, full of ideas and opinions, plans and dreams, ****y with the power of youth and not afraid to express their ideas with results that knock my socks off sometimes. There isn't one of them I haven't learned something from, and to the person each one has been respectful and patient. Reminds me of the guys I used to know....
Just an opinion from an old guy.

It's a two way street and I just want to say Thank You to the young folks that have been very respectful to my wife and I pretty much starting at the West Coast Kustom's run over the years in Paso Robles when the Traditional, Rock-A-Billy, type guys and gals started attending way back in the late 80's thru the 90's.
If we were walking thru the park the young folks woud allow my wife and I to use the sidewalk as they stepped off onto the gr***. I was super impressed with them.
I'm so glad you guys are picking up where we left off as we came close to losing the Kustom/Custom car aspect of this hobby that I love back in the 70's...... THANKS!

I hang out with a couple of old timers once or twice a week and have lunch or breakfast with them. I always come away richer from the experience either with knowledge, a funny story, or hand me down parts:D Gotta love the old guys!

  9. Part's and car's is cool,

I would much rather have their "Knowledge there experiences" and maybe some mentoring! Most old guys have it together

save's me a lot of time, heartache, and money. Plus they lived it , once they are gone it can be like re inventing the wheel all over again!

I say Love the old timers and " pick there brains with a p***ion!

I think if i'm you i would help the old fella paint the car while i'm at it , getting it to primer is the hard part , might as well paint it while your there. Then maybe do a little pin stripe for the old geezer to say thanks...

Im greatful to have been taken under wing by the great hot rod mechanic/builder Ron Ray...when I was 23. He was a great guy and helped me alot, although I'm no mechanic. Unfortunately he moved away and I only called him once after as I was busy getting on with my own life. His knowledge was immense, I just found out he p***ed away a few weeks ago....and it was several years ago. Knowing guys like this is a priceless experience and we had a blast back in those days. Ron had tons of neat stuff in his backyard like this...in La Habra Hts alot of it practically given away when he moved to Colorado in 93.

It took me five years to get a cylinder and a head for my Dürkop Moped. An old dude, I met, made one phone call and that was it, what it took him......

Nothing at all wrong with ****ing up to the senior citizen segment of the hobby. I'd proably stoop to it myself if I were on the other side of the fence.
With that said, your still going to pay through the nose for the 6 X 2 intake and 94's . One thing us old guys understand is "old age and treachery will win out over youth and enthusiasm every time". So............................. don't turn down any overtime, senility doesn't necessarily alter our affection for cash.:D

Yeah I think you'll be able to afford the condo in Maui when you sell me all the stuff I need for the roadster. Do you offer a lay away program? my 401K isn't doing so hot right now:D

This guy's a little senile; keeps talking about his open heart surgery and where they cut him open, etc... He likes to make jokes about it, so I let him. I'm planning on helping him paint the car, and it will definetely have some stripes on it. I just hope that we can get it done within the next year. The A bodies aren't for sale, although he said he'd understand if I were to part with them as long as the money was used for car stuff! Cool old guy- very understanding!!!
