I am ready to have the windshield installed in my 46 ford coupe. The curved gl*** on ebay looks cool but a local gl*** installer who I will probably use said he can do both, but the v **** now days is very good and much better than years past when the silicone turned yellow and had a 5/16 gap. In fact he said the curved one piece ****s. Maybe it is easier and more profit for him with the v ****. Any one out there use the one piece curved? Of course the sellers of the curved one piece say they are great and you almost throw them in. Been there before with ran when I took it out, very little rust for the age, and show quality. This is a hot rod so I will not use the stock window with divider bar. As always thanks ahead for the great feedback. Gary
its a hot rod so you wont use a divider bar? I think both V-but and curved are pretty modern looking options, maybe its a streetrod and not traditional, so then you should do whatever you want....this is a forum for traditional hotrods and customs....
I'm an old guy and I say "stay traditional" with the metal windshield divider in the middle. IMHO, it looks alot better.
Hey I am a little old school runnin a 39 ford with a 49 merc, offy heads, three 97's hooked to a 69 top loader with a mor drop axle, 53 f100 brakes and a transverse rear. 3,500 miles a year in minnesota. Just doing a 60's style rod and want a little different look. I do understand where you are coming from but still would like a comment on the v ****. Thanks Gary
Boy, you guys really kicked the **** out of me. Maybe thats good once in a while. Thanks for the reallity check. The more I think about it the ss bar might look kicken with the chrome bumpers, old school flames, and swan neck mirrors already complete, After all it does have the vent windows and ss running board trim, Thanks for realing me in. Gary
The curved gl*** ****s! All kinds of weird **** when you look through the curved area...............divider bar all the way.
the curved gl*** in my truck always makes me dizzy if i try to look threw it at just the right angle...
Have one piece curved windshield in my pro- street 39 chevrolet coupe. I like it mainly because its differant than most street rods in this location. Seems like to me its personel perferance. They all look good if done right. Good luck onwhatever you decide. Jerry
V ****s have been around a long time - just look at some early customs. Personally, I like the V ****, have one in my 48.
V-****s have been around once in a rare while on high dollar kustoms early on, he said he was building a 60's hotrod, not Kustom....the fact that he asked v-**** or curved made it clear he was cornfused.....too many eras, like camaro Z-28 mirrors on a merc with T-bird back seats...sure you can do it, but why? just to be different?
well do both. the v **** probly wont leak as much, so just glue the center strip on! straight 8 39century coupe
I install both, V-****s are traditional. so are one piece. I did a one piece in a forty Ford 40 years ago. the one piece aftermarket for earlys cars are really distorted in the center bend. I couldn't drive one around the block. Studebaker came out with one piece windshields that fit in the same bodys as flat two piece in 1940, Willy's in 1954. Autocar Trucks in 1953, none had distortion. but are hard to find and won't fit everything. Cerny Plymouth was not the first V-****, it was the first I ever saw and had the shaded band on top 1956
