Hey hambers. My name is Nick, im from san jose and i just purchased my first hotrod project today. Its a 1930 model a pickup cab. I am so excited and think i got a pretty good deal. With the cab i also got a a fabricated 2x3 frame with a 14 inch kickup in the rear with a stock crossmember, almost done with 4 inch drop axle, 40 wishbones and 40 backing plates. also got a 9 inch big bearing housing, brackets to mount it, wheels and tires, original 31 grill shell, sweet mac truck headlights, a 401 nailhad with a dynaflow trans,f100 steering box, and i think thats about it. Lets just say i got alotof stuff and i really dont know how to go about working on the car. Looking to chop and channel it. Thats what i really need help with. If anyone is willing to help i have plenty of tools and the welder to do it. just need some experience to help. Also need to know how and where to brace the body up, after the wood comes out. thanks guys.
Any pics and if you do a search you will find almost everything you need to no . But pic s will help . I would start with the frame get it rolling then start to think about the body and chopping and channeling
i was thinking more on the lines of physical help. I can read all day and still not know where to put things,or the best way to do it
Hey Nick, sounds like you got the start of a *****inn rod, what part of the south bay are you in ? I should be close enough to HELP!!!!
I got that but your going to need to get in there and do it yourself just take it slow. You can read the threads and you wont need help if you can weld, get an angle finder and a tape . Is the fram together
Did you give any thought to joining a car club? Must be some guys around there in a hot-rod club, those kind of guys are usually willing to help newbies out. Use the HAMB (like you're doin') start a build-it group of guys with know-how but not the raw materials you have. Or, since youv'e already read everything go to Harbor Freight get some scary stuff and hurt yousel!
