Disc Brake snag

Good evening guys,

I am attempting to install disc brakes in my old '55 Chevy. I purchased caliper brackets from performanceonline.com. Attempting to install rotors off of a 1970 Chevelle and have hit a snag, namely the rotor is rubbing on the top bolt that goes through the bracket to the upper control arm. I have the bearings in and they fit the spindle very well. I am just wondering if there is supposed to be spacer or something? The rotor is not even tight on the spindle yet and it rubs on that bolt. anybody run into this before? Any help would be appreciated.

what rotors are they telling you to use? post some pic's of your project.

 

kit # 16989 ($75) uses 69'-72' chevelle rotors. kit # 18735 ($99) uses 70'-81' camaro whichever one your using they come with spacers in the hardware kit. which one are you using?

 

I am using the kit for 69-72 chevelle rotors. The spacers included in the kit are supposed to be used to on the backside of the bolt that goes through the front of the spindle, so they really have nothing to do with the rotor. I will try getting some pics today and go from there. The thing is, I went ahead and bolted up the caliper to what i have for clearances and it look like the rotor is right where it should be. space it out any more and she wont fit in the caliper. I will play with it today and see what i come up with.

The top bolt on the chevelle was thinner .. Done this swap a few times. Just turn down the head of the bolt in a lathe. Take 1/3 to 1/2 off and use a good 6 point socket to install it. ( use some red lock***e and leave off the lockwasher )
