just wondering if any of you '53/'54 chevy(car) guys have done anything different than NCA's window channel kits, like something on the "cheap". i really don't want it to rain inside the car, but NCA is pricey. let me know.

    thanks.

The ease of install and quality of nca kit made it worth the money. I'm happy with it, and my new gl*** thanks me.

yea, their kit looks good and pretty simple....you're probably right, i'd just be better off spending the money rather than trying to "rig" something.

    thanks.

An alternative may be www.restorationspecialties.com I've seen them at some shows. mailing address is Windber, PA (814) 467-9842. don't know much else about them, but they have a BIG catalog.

NCA is short for National Chevy ***ociation. Not sure it will help with your Merc. I used the NCA kit on my 53 and it was a breeze. Haven't had it out in the weather, but it kept the water out when I shot it with the hose. I'd go with them if I were you. Good luck.

NCA sells(or used to, it's been a few years since i hit the MN swaps)bulk fuzzies, not just kits for chevys.

I have used the NCA kit. It was pretty good if memory serves. For universal it is hard to beat J. C. Whitney as they sell a good quality universal channel. Their window felt is good for universal stuff also . I have also used Restoration Specialties stuff and was happy with it.

Look up CRLaurence. They have a huge warhouse here in houston, but they only deal with gl*** shops. Call up a small local gl*** guy and talk to him about ordering you some channel from CRLaurence. I replaced all of the channel and s****ers on my Cadillac for just over $100.
They also carry windshield rubber and door seal rubber by the foot.
