  2. agh, they pulled that **** on me with my 63 here in fl, unfortunatly....you kinda have to make it legal so switch to a new plate for the state its in now and keep it registered, thats what they told me, it has to have that stupid up to date sticker on the plate too, or do what i did with my 52 and hide it in the back.... its hard to fight what the police and state or county say, they dont give a **** about anyone else other than the precidents on those bills you give em, they get it either way.....thats why my 52 and 63 are both in hiding, since i dont drive them much i dont feel like getting new plates

good idea super stock i just owe my dad some bills right now someday it will have il plates the tx ones are new and good for a whole year

  4. Tyler if the truck is owned and registered to your dad and he lives in Texas you should be fine. Essentially you are just using his vehicle, you don't own it so it doesn't have to be ***led and registered in Illinois.

just as i thought im just going to leave it the way it is and if i get stoped i will rember that

  6. Keep those TX plates as long as you can, they're bustin our balls for plates in IL now. If the Gov. and Sec. of State have their way, we'll be paying more per mile for plates than for gas.

I used to live in a neighborhood with very possessive neighbors with the space infront of their house. I dont drive every day, I usually commute on a moto. I got on of those stickers. They are a ***** to get off too. The system is lame.

Move it every day... just PUSH it one spot. That'll piss 'em off!

You need to look into the local laws. I'm pretty sure that you only have so many days after moving to IL to change your license, registration, etc. That would include plates. The cops will only accept "I'm just borrowing it" for so long. I friend of mine kept her car registered at her parent's place in OH while living in Chicago. She thought that they would never bother to track out of state plates down to make her pay all her parking tickets. Well, a few months later, her parents got a $500 bill... and that was in the days before things could be tracked so easily by the internet.

  11. True you have 30 days as a new resident to apply for license/plates, but otherwise ***le/registration only applies to Illinois residents. As far as Chicago parking tickets go, those *******s will go to the ends of the earth to find people. And parking regulations/moving violations can be enforced on out of state vehicles, registration/equipment violations cannot. This is one you can beat in court if it gets to that point.

  12. Meanwhile there's the BOOT. And they have boots for everything!! I saw a semi booted on Montrose near Austin one morning. I've seen the crews working. And don't dare get caught removing one: you'll likely get "interviewed" by CPD's finest. Those "interviews" can hurt. A lot.

I got one once on my '67 skylark in the time it took me to go inside for lunch when I was in college. However, I've called twice on my neighbor's dually that's been sitting on the street full of garbage for three months and the city hasn't done anything about that!

i got a move it sticker after my wreck. my car had the wheel jammed against the frame and it was there for a week.there was a time when it sat for months straight cause my license was suspended, and never got the ticket. i had to jack it up and put a wooden furniture dolly under the wheel so i could back it into the driveway. they also got my brothers 57 firedome...stupid ****S! this is the kind of **** that pisses me off. why the **** does my car have to be moved every day, its ********.

i'm sure he'll be quaking in his jackboots at the authority you wield over him.

it ****s, but you just gotta play the game. you say there are businesses where you live, keep in mind their survival depends on customers being able to easily park and get to the mom & pop stores you speak of.

consider it a life lesson, now you know the importance of off street parking when you are a renter.

oh hell, park it at walmart.
    why screw with mom&pops?

  21. ^what tom said^ the mom and pops have enough trouble competing with wal-mart.. learn the laws , get a copy the neighborhood codes and study up , know your rights ..

Here in Arlington, Tx you have 72 hours of street parking. After that you can be tagged. Most times when someone complains. If your tagged you have 72 hours to move it. Seems resonable to me.
