Very nice car. My father in law is a '35 plymouth fan. He had a coupe in high school. He has a 2dr sedan now. The plymouth was way ahead of ford and chevy. They had hydraulic brakes and a open drivline. Find a later Chrysler flat 6 to put in it. I forget the engine displacments but the '35 is a small engine. I am preaty sure that rumble seat is very rare in '35. Nice score!!! Love the car.

Wish I was better at it but if you hold it at arm's length and squint you get the general idea. Moon discs may not be your thing but I think they look good on blackwalls with light colors like that. Either way a very cool find!

  11. The cool thing is my wife digs it...took a bunch of my buddies coming by and simultaneously slapping me on the back and bitching that they missed out on it for her to realize that it is an awesome find...she hated my Rivi until people started liking that one too

  12. hey, at least she is trainable. Nice car man.

Stop! Don't touch that body. Get it running and stopping good then drive crap out of it for a while. Looks good the color it is. Don't see it at every meet and it looks really good. Great find! Just my $0.02

Sweet Hayzues, 3 pages of posts all declaring a Plymouth as Sweet. Man MOPARS have come a long way in the last 10 years. Usta be a thing like that wouldn't get a second look from most folks. Sure is a solid looking thing.

Plymouth did some wierd things chassis wise in the mid 30's. THey introduced IFS, had it a year went back to a tubular beam axle for a couple years, then back to IFS. The IFS is pretty good all it needs to be up to snuff is to relocate the top schock mounts. Ford F100 mounts will work. Fellow on this board does disc brake conversions (Old daddy) his web site is rustyhope.com. He also splits intakes and exhaust if you wanna keep the flathead and give it some eye candy. Engine is likely a 201, 35 and up are all the same castings Plymouth and Dodge so a 230 will bolt directly in.

Uh by the way if you cover up those artillery wheels with moon discs, you might be......well never mind. Stock those were usually a contrasting color to the body, with pinstripes highlighting the center of the ribs and "Y" ing out at the top.

Check out the Sam Spade movies with Humphry Bogart made int he early 40's, he had a business coupe, same body no rumble, in those flicks. He had an interesting add on, he pushed a catch on the dash and a panel flipped down with 2 hand guns clipped to it. Like a 38 revolver and a .25 semi. Neat option.

If and when you go through the brakes, look into the bottom of the MC. There are two ports, one to feed the cylinder bore and one to allow fluid back when the brakes are released, The relief hole gets crudded up easilly. So as you put on the brakes, after a few times the fluid will jam up and lock the brakes. Just fish em out good with some mechanics wire, They run north and south about an inch apart pretty much centered.

Remember when dicking with the electrics its 6 V POSITIVE ground. First thing to do is assure the primary battery cables are minimum 1 gauge or the thing won't work right starting and charging.
    €
ONe other thing to check is the screen in the fuel pump. these wil get clogged and allow the engine to idle all day long but not run above 20mph.

You'll look back years from now and realize this is probably the neatest thing that you've ever experienced automotive related. After buying and selling over 100 cars and turning 64 this September I haven't topped the one I found in 1959 at 15 years old. It was a 1932 Ford 5w with 300 origional miles. Second owner only because it came with the property he just bought and didn't realize exactly what he had. Too long a story for now but I DIDN'T get it for a variety of reasons (being no. 2 on the prospective buyers list was the ultimate downfall) but I remember it like it was yesterday.
