If you're coming to Hershey in the fall, there's a campground that is right on the shuttle bus route. It's called Highmeadows, but bring earplugs. Near the RR tracks and a rock crushing plant........... Saw a Model T there with a trailer that folded out into a big, old, canvas tent. Looked like camping in the 1920's.

One of my favorite events each summer is a weekend long run and campout. It's a lot of fun and everyone camps right on the fairgrounds.

We've been known to camp now and then....

    :D

We're actually looking for another little canned-ham camper now.

I would much rather camp then stay in a hotel.

How many of you like to camp but the Mrs. will only stay in a hotel? :D

I've been keeping my eye out for a cheap little camper actually. There's a number of good shows in PA with free camping. Jalopy Showdown and I think The Rockabilly Run both have free camping this year.

A friend and I camped with a Mullins trailer carrying our tent, chairs, gas, etc driving 2 23 T roadsters to the NSRA 20th Anniversary Nats in 1990.

The key to comfortable camping is being able to carry the stuff you need and want in a trailer that works and looks good. The Mullins is small, carries tons, and tows like a dream, especially if you lengthen the tongue about a foot or so and make sure the springs are lubricated and working well.

We try and seek out car events that have camping or are held at a campsite.

We camp at 4 shows a year....not counting the swapmeets.

Latimore..first one of the year. We gotta be quiet after midnight. That and be careful in the shower (long story)

York...we're outlaws. NSRA got greedy and did away with the camping. So we took our circus to a vacant lot. Worked out for the better. We have a blast and have had some real crazy times there. The lot gets so full it gets gridlocked at times.

***berland MD...Great weekend get away in the mountains. It's a show that has been going on for 35 years. More and more traditional stuff is showing up. We have big campfires and drink a lot of beer.

Beaver Springs...last year was the first. Just something cool about camping at a dragstrip. Watch out for the rubber band fights....don't ask!

We've even been known to set up a pool when it's hot. I stayed away from the pool pictured :)

I wish my scanner worked....I used to drag a 19' travel trailer with my 37 Chevy coupe. Used to go to car shows and also just to go camping. The picture
I have shows me driving the rig through a shallow creek crossing at one of our favorite campgrounds.

Yeah, Clark. I remember when that happened. Scary.

You ever rebuild or replace it?

I got another Scotty but it's not as cool as that one. It was a late 50's model. My new one is a 67 or 68. It's just a little bigger and painted. Plan on building something cool if I ever have time.

The wife and I are planning on doing the camping thing this summer as soon as I get my '32 pickup done to pull the camper. I bought a 1986 Burro (almost like a Scamp) a few years ago and restored it with new paint, a new interior, and freshening up. We did it in the Route 66 motif with tapestry fabric we actually found at the Hackberry General Store on Route 66 on one of our roadster trips back from the LA Roadster Show. I've added new hickory cabinets, a fridge, built in A/C, new lighting and battery back-up power. We are planning some short trips to try it out before we take any long trips but I'm hoping to drag it out to Speed Week in August.

I don't camp at car shows but this is my home away from home on the road for parts hunting trips. A 40" semi sleeper mounted on the frt of my car trailer. Was home for 11 nights last summer and will be for about that long in a week. Small but cozy. I also have a 6 X 10 enclosed cargo trailer that I stay in at swap meets. If you see it on the road, honk or wave or at a swap stop and share some BS

  24. To me, the shows where you can camp out are more attractive.

I like to have a few (or alot) of beers with my friends, and I won't drive drunk, so a place to crash at night is best. Or if am at a show drinking, my wife is not, and she gets pissed off about that.

I love the small trailers, I'd like to find one myself.

I found one on ebay, heres a item#190214665204 THis thing is cool..

I used to camp at ***berland Md. for their Labor day run, and at York when it was allowed. Many good times at both events over the years. Here's an old picture from ***berland from the early 90's. I have since sold my camper, but I still have the 40.....and the kids, although they are now 21 and 23 ......:D

And here's a shot of the older son from the above shot driving the 40 up to ***berland a few years ago as I was dragging the camper up with the Burb.....

OL 55, Your 40 is the best!! Very nice car! Nice to see you've had it all these years and seeing your son in it with that big SMILE! Very Cool!

I bought my trailer because a bunch of friends of mine have been doing it for years. They all have Scamps, Bolers, Burros, tent campers and now "A frames" (a new hard shell tent type camper). These guys are always the ones still partying after 2 AM. If you make it past midnight with them, you are automatically a member of the "Stoopid Club". And most of them are at least 55-65 years old!

We use to do the whole camping thing every year when we would go up for Paso Robles. Hot rods, camping, fishing, drinking, cruising, and bbq'n all on the same weekend.

Jethro, those are breath taking pictures for this Texas boy. You diffenently live in God's country. I'm looking for a camper I can put on my dually if anyone has a good one for sale. I can drive the dually with camper and pull my A on my new trailer. Oh ****, here it comes the trailer bashing. Please understand I'm at the end of the world down here so travelling with a support vehicle, tools and such, is a necessity in my camp.

My camping gear stays in my trunk 12 months out of the year. I'd rather go to the races and camp in the pits overnight with my pals than go to another car show. Camping and hot rods goes hand in hand.

I like to travel light, just a small tent, an air matress, and sleeping bag. All fits into the trunk of the roadster. You meet the nicest people in campgrounds.
