first of all i want u all to know im not trying to start no s//t. just saying my 2 cents. Im 62 years young loved hot rods since i could wipe my own ***.to i truley do love the triditional hot rod style and respect those who also do.However i think that triditional and tridition go hand in hand.When i fell in love with hot roding it was about p***ing on a way of life. tridition was pased to me by older guys helping me lern things showing me how to be a benifit to hot roding and how to make it respectful.i am a nfg to the hamb and do under stand its forum i.e.{ triditional} i just dont understand losing site of the tridition.why do some feel it nessery to bash some poor f//c//ng new guy for wanting to gaine knowledg from other hambers.where is there respect for tridition in hot roding.i remember a guy who showed me how to up grade my brakes when i was young and dumb .Probabley saved my life and my famileys now thats how y earn respect not *****en about some dumb *** nfg asking for help!!!!
Traditionally, tradition is spelled with an 'a', not an 'i'. That advice won't save lives... This forum is based on traditional hot rods and customs. We like to keep it focused... It's not a personal thing, just an editorial thing. There are plenty of other forums out there for contemporary hot rods. If that's what you are into, maybe you should visit them?
im with you on that, if it werent for the greasers i knew in nc who helped me build my first engine and showed me how to even block sand for a paint job, i would still be paying someone else to do it and be poor. it does **** to sit here and watch people of any age get on the hamb, ask a question (no questions are stupid) and they get bashed for it because alot of other hambers think everyone in the world knows how to make a logo on a shop truck look old and worn or how to lower a car, it goes for everyone, some people are just ***holes, and some are just joking when they respond to some questions with some stupid remarks, i got one not long ago. if you dont like the questions other rodders are asking, then dont answer.....or better yet, dont get on the hamb, after all, isnt this a place where us weird lowbrow gearheads can go to get accepntance since our neighbors and alot of friends and family still dont get whhy we cut up perfectly nice vintage cars to make them faster or lower!!! we are all missunderstood, so why do we have to bash people in our own little hot rodding community?
Ummm... do you have examples of such a thing happening? Post a link. We bash a rat rod idea every now and then, but for the most part the folks around here are decent people.
Superstockcatalina, I think what a lot of people do is to jump into the HAMB without first reading it and getting a gist for what the place is about. It's pretty obvious that this IS the place for no nonsense banter regarding ******** traditionalism in hotrodding, and that subjects regarding faux anything will be ridiculed. There are those that understand it, those that don't and those that never will, no matter how hard they try.
I try to stay out of this but it keeps pulling me in. I too love traditional rods as much as the next guy. Lets do a real count of who has a real car built in the fifties. Not alot of people I'm sure! And if so is it period correct in everyway. Why do we let cars with air bags in to so called traditioal only shows? In the 80's I worked in an engine shop and people where taking out flatheads to replace with better engines, Is it still traditioal now? We cut a great traditional car up in 1990 to make a modern day rod out of it (something I now regret) but thats how we progress in hot rodding. All things come back around. In motorcycles we just went through the chopper phase now everyone wants bobbers. How many people on here that bash people now were traditional hot rodders when it wasn't cool? I was raised to give respect to everybody because no matter how much they think their s<>t don't stink, they still put thier pants on one leg at a time just like ME. I think that we are telling our youth its ok to be cyber bullies no matter the forum if we keep this up. Just answer the dumb question or don't reply they will go somewhere else to get the answer and nobody gets bent over it. My 2 Cents lets hear it.
First of all, not just new guys get razzed around here. I'm still pretty new to the HAMB and have seen some pretty well respected and very knowledgeable people take their lumps. There is such a thing as a stupid question when the answers are pretty much spelled out right in front of you. Ask a question about ol skewl boyd billet jap cars etc when it is blatantly obvious the intent here and you will get chewed. Ask a question that has been asked a thousand times and you'll get chewed (do a search.) Ask for an opinion and you're gonna hear something you probably don't agree with. What good, what innovation would there be if we never questioned, debated, or argued? I'll give you some people can be a bit harsh but there is a bully just about everywhere you go. Ask your questions, take your lumps, ignore the fools, make some friends, and move on. P.S. Go do a count on the first five pages of how many posts where people are being constructive versus where they are bashing and then tell me the HAMB has an at***ude problem. I think you'll find that there are a heck of alot more people around here who are willing to help.
well, nads, ryan, im on your side too, i understand exactly what your saying, what i meant to say is that sometimes i think alot of responses to posts are alittle uncalled for and just seem rediculous to me. im all for the nostalgic and traditional and im into the ******** stuff you like as well, thats why im here, i love the period correct cars. i too am not trying to side with anyone or make anyone mad, i just feel that some rude replys just should be kept to that person. and true fake anything like purposly making your car rusty or making the paint job look old is kinda, not my thing, but to have an old truck with worn out paint and wanting to make your logo on the doors look like it was painted 50 years ago isnt a bad thing, now the whole paint job yeah, but a logo? besides, i hate rat rods as much as the next guy but hell, its thier car isnt it? i mean, i love nothing more than a flawless perfect custom paintjob, but thats my cars, i hate seeing 31 fords with corvette lt1 engines and independent rear suspention too but it aint my car, im not the one driving it, and i would just ***ume not to post my negative replys on thier threads if i dont like it, id rather keep to myself, hell, i replyd on this thread to say i agree, but then i get " corrected" ??? wtf... ahahahah i like the people on here, i love the cars, i love the culture and styles and arts and knowladge.... but im tired of people reading threads and pointing out the fact that someone misspelled something or are bashed for THIER oppinions. seriously . and i like what foolnhismoney said, sometimes we have to make ****ty mistakes and regret doing somethings in order to advance and be safer and faster and louder, dont you think if thier was a way to make the cars faster back then they would have done it? or seatbelts, wouldnnt you think the street racers wouldnt have to watch thier friends die simply because they didnt have a stupid strap around them, i agree, i am not one for big rims or those street low profile tires, but if your goall is to stick to the road better and get good traction in the rain and on corners, thats what you use...i love the bias wide whites, but if my car will go faster with a set of old pie crust cheater slicks, hell, im gonna uses em... its my car.... not trying to make enamies, but geez, why does everyone have to get corrected for spelling or thier opinion? after a while, people will get so tired of it no one will post anymore, and i know i wouldnt want that, i want to learn from what everyone knows, not thier ****ty opinions about how they dont like my car. there should be alittle more respect i think....just my 80 cents
true, i have done my share of searches to find stuff, and sure enough, i cant find anything, and sometimes, that alone takes days with all the posts on here it just gets buried in a matter of ten minutes. yeah, everyone takes the lumps, thats not the big issue, and of course, ask a question about boyd or rice rockets and yeah, you do deserve alittle ****, this site is geared towards the traditional style hot rod and customs, i think it shoulld just be toned down abit, some of the " razzing" is rediculous, alittle doesnt hurt, but damn. well, i had enough of this one.
O **** !! see what i mean.u know i can take critics if they have value maby some have no value to add so they just bs is this what the hamb is about?no i didn't think so im begining to notice that they seem to be the same ones all the time (get a life!!)
