I'd like to find an aluminum 215 (61-63 Buick/Olds-or maybe one of the Rivers) to rebuild someday. Anyone know of any likely places in central/eastern PA?

I saw a 60's wildcat at my local "old yard" up here that had been recently acquired. Not sure what year it was, might have been later. I'll see what's in it and let ya know...

Forget Harry's near Quakertown & Allentown..all new stuff. Our yards have had it. The golden age is over.

So where exactly is Unique Auto Salvage? I'm not finding it mentioned other than on this page. Jackson, NJ - right But where? Details people, details!
Yes, Friendship is fantastic. Everytime I go I see something I missed before. I was just there a week ago and it seems they have gotten even MORE cars.

  8. I love EZ Pull, but the older stuff is pretty picked over. If you dig Corvairs, you might find some stuff, but anything else is a bit of a rarity here. Did manage to get some Packard stuff, and a complete nose from a 48 International for dirt cheap. In the next couple weeks I am going to a long lost yard up near Carbondale that I have been to a couple times. Anyone know what I'm talking about? If you do, then you know what's up with this place-old tin everywhere, more early hemis than I could count. Don't know how much of it is left, but I poked in there for a quick peek about a year and a half ago, everything was still there. Gotta be careful to avoid getting shot, though.

Any yards with 30s stuff? The two I knew of around here have both crushed their stock.

Yes! I was in Friendship Auto Parts (Tabernacle, NJ) about two weeks ago to get MGB parts (not a hotrodder, sorry!). From the point when you enter the gate, take about 40 regular steps and look up and to the right. There is an old panel van truck thing there, and sitting on top is an OLD car body. It has wood spoke wheels (the wheels and axles, etc are laying on the ground next to the truck. When I was leaving I pointed to the old car and asked the yard owner 'What's that old car up there?" He said, "'28 Willy's". How cool is that?

  11. Old guys with yards get tired of people who come in, talk for 2 hours, leave a bunch of hoods and doors open, and don't buy anything. Or want to offer less than the s**** price for the parts they want and wreck half the rest of the car taking it off.

You mean the EZ Pull in New Ringgold? Most of the Corvairs are pretty picked over too. I just grabbed a radio housing from one of the 60-64s ~1 month ago. I like that yard too. Not much in the way of "old" stuff, but good prices and a lot of cars.

Anybody have a phone number for Friendship? Or can anybody get a pic of that Willys? I really can't use a 28, but the 1931 I just bought was listed as a 26, so I might luck out.

To get to Unique take the Jersey Turnpike to exit 7A for 195. Take 195 East toward the shore. Take exit 22 off 195. At the end of the ramp go left. At the second traffic light go left. Unique will be on your left.

although Hofferts in bernville has been in operation along time.. but most of the stuff is pretty far gone now.. (last time I was there I came home empty handed)

yeah i went there earlier this year, lots and lots of stuff, lots of rust but lots of parts still, i believe they are starting to crush out. oh and they are not that cheap either. but if your nearby and u need some parts desperately its worth it

I was in Hofferts in Nov & Jan and agree: lots of picked-over & far-gone stufff, but still worth the trip IMO just to see this stuff in this Twilight Day of the Junkyard. Bought a couple fenders/running boards, an aftermarket under-dash heater & battery cover for my COE for $200. There's a late '40s Buick converted into a tow truck there- whisked by in the bed of a pickup so I didn;t get to check it out... need to go back in check it.
