....as in old tire size??? G78, F78, etc.
I can by a set for $100.00 with good tread. and am wondering how they will look. Off the rims (tlooking at a picture) they look a little like Bias Plies but I just can't visualize how they will look on a rim, say 15X6 or so. I can't get the picture posted here?!?!? But here is the craigslist listing number, in Spokane, Wash.: 646886338
    Thanks, Ken

I did, but all the tires I saw there have a "rounded" tread edge to them, BUT these ones I am intereted have more of that "bias ply" 90 degree edge on them!?!? If that makes sense by my description???

205mm is about 8" wide (though measured across the tread it can be pretty widely different) and 75 is a pretty tall profile.

This may or may not help.
205 = 205mm or 8.07" This is important to determine the aspect ratio. 75 = 75% aspect ratio of the first number 205mm or a sidewall height of 6.05" if you figure you have two sidewalls.
One on top, and one on bottom, and add that to the wheel diameter of 15" you get 27.10 inches rolling diameter.
Now if you can find tech data on the tires you are looking at, and get
the actual diameter, you should be able to make a good decision.
This is all based on theoretical formulas. Tire manufacturers tolerances are not all the same. Your mileage may vary.

    Hope that helps.

Are you sure they're not bias-ply? Just because they have the modern size designation doesn't necessarily mean they're radials. They still make bias-ply (with the white stripe) for trailers.

I'm doing the what size will fit dance myself. I'm looking for a 56 Ford. Sunday there was a 55 Bird with 205-75-15s and they looked to be the original size. 670-15? A 56 Wagon along side it had 215-75-15s and they looked nice. Both were radials. In my cir***stance, I think the 215s are about as big as I can go because of the wheel wells in back. Both were on original Ford 15" rims 6" max.

670-15 is what i run on my car for the wide white walls (1951 Ford) and when i put my winter tires on they are 205/75/15's. i set them on top of my firestones and they were the same height almost as the www. about a 1/4" difference in the height. (radials are the shorter ones)

I sold tires back when the radials where starting to take over most of the sales over bias plies. A 20575R15 is an FR78-15 or F78-15 in bias ply.

  11. I believe those do translate into the old designation of 6.70x15.My 55 Safari's original spec tires were 7.10x15(7.60x15 optional)and the replacements I run are 215/75x15.

There are 25.4mm in one inch.

So, a 205mm wide tire translates to an 8.07 width, as someone already stated above.
