While I was out running hot rod errands today, I hit a few drug stores looking for the AG Maverick Stallion. I didn't find one, but I did find this swell AG Maverick Grabber! Just like in the movie! I love off-beat stuff like this, if anyone comes across a Stallion, if you get it and toss it in the mail for me, I'll make it worth your while.

There were a couple of them around here, I remember because we used to make fun of the poor losers driving them that thought it was a muscle car.

Yes, they were real, same paint scheme as in the original post (black and silver). The decal is a little off scale, but that was the car.

You can buy 3 for a six pack and a pack of menthols.

Yessir, those there are prime drag racing material. especially considering the floorpans are the same as Mustang.

I don't know but if they hold on to it for 30 years it will probably go for thousands on eBay.

I still remember the day my dad decided to trade in our badass Torino on the way home from work for a new '74 Maverick - a completely stripped down model. We were leaving the next day for a 14 hour drive to Alabama in July. It took about 10 minutes in the un-airconditioned Maverick to REALLY miss the big, cool, cloth upholstered Torino. I clearly remember almost crying when we stopped at every Stucky's along the way and I had to peel myself off the shiny vinyl seats. I was only 6 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Needless to say, mom was pretty ticked on that little summer trip, too.

We had that car for about two years and traded it in for a '76 or '77 Granada, which STILL left me missing the old Torino!

My first car was a '77 Pinto station wagon and my older brother's first car was a Maverick (different one). I guess my dad was determined to pass the run of crappy car choices down to the next generation!

  11. I worked in the corporate atmosphere with other designers-- it was for MuscleMachines.

With the exception of one guy- the other "designers" knew nothing about cars.
They thought that A/FX & Gasser styled cars were the funniest things they had ever seen, and "like why would they make them so ugly on purpose?"

Most don't care about period correctness- all they see is "retro"- it's popular with kids, and it sells in the "Dorm" furniture aisle and on T-shirts at Target.
