well sometimes if they powdercoat over the bolt, it rips up a large section of powdercoat when you remove it, it's really easy to chase a thread, and you can get silicone plugs to go in the holes that don't do this.
i forgot that gritty **** gets in there, also if you need to keep part of something unpowdercoated, you can buy the high temp tape, you wrap it in this and if you are lucky it might peel back off,usually you have to pick it off.
Retap just to get the bolts in. The first time I had powder done was to all the top bows on the '40 Chevy - and then I couldn't get any of the bolts to go in. That paint is hard. Charlie
I use bolts just for hangers. I have found silicone plugs work best for the final appearance(no cracks or chips). That tape works great, you can get it in different mil thickness too. Newspaper works great if you are covering something big(as long as you are not going over 450 deg). If you need some help check out www.echosupply.com they helped me out bigtime!
