It's as cool as **** tho.ummmmmmmm i gather people here think the term rat rod is an insult.Over here we use it as a term for a car thats well built and well engineered but dressed down to look a little rough.Rough cars that are truly rough and are not engineered but slung together are called dogs as in dog ruff lol............ so should i re***le it let me see ya well engineered but rough looking hotrods? nah i think not if nobody wants to show me thier rat rods pait fine but theres as much prep goes into a real good satin job as in a good plain colour job if it's done right..........Marq

I really hate the terminology. I've been building , buying , selling Traditional style Hot Rods for nearly 20 years and the phrase wasnt around until fairly recently. I have a theory , not unique to me , that the term 'rat rod' has been coined by the repro parts and after market industry to undermine a growing trend that they consider to be a threat to the business of selling repop parts. When we started with the 'LOW FLYERS' we were referred to in the magazines as the 'growing one per-cent'. I reckon at least 40% of an English show is now traditional 40's and 50's style cars !!! **** 'EM !!!!!
