    Hi

I just bought a '49 Ford F1 and got it yesterday. It's in OK condition and first things first - get it back out on the road!!
I need to give the brakes and the steering box fixed to get it through inspection.
As I'm already going to order parts for that there's a few other changes I want make and order parts for at the same time.

I would like to put some Gennie rims for Wheel Vintiques on it. I've been trying to search for posts that would give me an idea of which size would fit it/look good on it. Any ideas? Maybe pictures to show me?

I also want to get some WW bias ply tires for it. Again what size would fit it? Look good on it? Pictures appreciated.

I want to install a Lokar shifter in it. Anyone done that in an F1? show me ;)

Another obvious change I need to do is changing the grill - but that's already added to the shopping list.

I'll appreciate any thoughts on wheels and tires and the lokar shifter.
    Thanks!

15x5 Gennie rims, 6.70x15 tires. Or 16x4 Gennies with 6.00x16 tires. Or if you want a rake just dont go too small in the front, go bigger on the rears 7.60 0r 8.20x15 or 7.00 or 7.50x16. Dont get wider than a 4" rim for 16's in front it makes the tires look funny. That's just a random stab at it, there's lots of combos that would work. I've got two sets brewing for my F-1 so far. Wheels keep following me home.

    Thanks weez!
I want the rims and tires to be "proportioned", not too much rim/too little tire and vice versa, and keeping that in mind I should probably go for 15x5 Gennies?
Considering I wouldn't want a rake would 8.20x15 work both front and rear?

I'm torn between rake vs. no rake...

When I still had the straight axle and stock rear in my F-1, I ran the Gennie 15 x 5 in front and the 15 x 8 in the back. I've always liked the reverse look in the back. I also had Torque Thrust "d" s on it for awhile, 15 x 4.5 and 15 x 8.5 in the back. Radials were 205-15 and 255-15. FWIW Good Luck.

Here's one look- 6:70-15's front on Gennie Ford truck wheels, 8:20-15's rear on same wheels. 2" dropped axle.

Here's another- 205/70's on the front, 235/75's rear with same 2" dropped axle on 15" Americans 6" in the front, 8" rears.

I too am a multi wheel.

No dropped axle on this shot.
Steel wheels and the same tire sizes as the Americans. This is just after I got this truck. The first thing I did was put different tires on it.

Good luck, your truck is really cool.

Thank you all so much for the help.

Terpu, your first picture is dead on! 6:70-15's front on Gennie Ford truck wheels, 8:20-15's rear on same wheels it is.

dgc15 - too bad your picture doesn't show (unless logged in on ford-truck.com). How ever you've linked to http://www.ford-trucks.com/ I'll do my best to find it there..
