Stray Kat 500 11 days away!!!

This weekend I've been busy answering pm's, emails and phone calls concerning this years show. Below is some of the answers to everybody's questions.

Similar to the Round up? Yes, it is a lot like it. We started the show the same year as the Round up and its kool that we are both on the same page. We love live entertainment over a D J playing all day. The talent we have this year is the best yet. We will haveushrod, Miss Major and Her Mionor Mood Swings and the Rumblejetts. One of the kool things that we do at the show, we hand out an original 50's magazine to every entry. Why?? This is the type of Kustom and Hot Rod that we want to attend the show. We work hard to duplicate what we see in those kool magazines.

We have a lot of pin stripers and artist show up showing off their talent and hopefully to make a buck.

Some of the guys have called Dewey a Mid-West Paso Robles. I've never been there but I've been told our setting is the same as Paso. We take over all of downtown and the city park and guys are able to cruise around and come and go as they please.

Last year we had 325 cars entered from twelve different states. Some from as far as Arizona show up for the SK500. This year we have more pre-entries then last year and from a lot of differnt states. We should have close to 400 this year. The big party is at the host hotel parking lot. Guys will be up until 4 or later bench racing & hangin out. It is a very kool setting.....We ran out of room at the hotel for the bands to play on Saturday night, so we've moved it to a local bar that is near the hotel.

We are getting a group together to leave my house Friday morning, any one wanting to meet up or go with us PM me. Be leaving from around 95th st so and Greenwich. Haven't picked a time yet would guess around 8:30 or 9:00 . We normally travel to Cedar Vale , about half way , gas up and go.

 

Man, I don't think I can wait 11 days!
I am really looking forward to going this year!
It will be the first time to attend with my car running!

We drove Rev Jake's car sometime around Midnight last Saturday. Just need to get some tail lights on that thing and she'll be bound for Dewey...

Mick, what is the status on the Merc?

 

Merc is not going to make it this year. We are real close but far enough away that Foose (Overhaul'n) couldn't get it ready in time. Looking at the first week or two in June before she will be road ready. We've done a lot more then I had planned to do and Ralph is a miracle worker. He has completey converted the Merc into something respectable. You will not recognize it. Ron Myers threw on some crazy stripes on my new dash. We cut out the late model dash and replaced it with a '53 Merc. Finally I have a pinstriped dash! Below is some pictures of the project. Boy I sure miss driving her.....

We were talking about making some shirts for guys like me that have a car that didn't make it.

Got the 50 ready to go , will get the new shoes for her next week and we'll be on the road friday morning.

Yah, I thought about it but just to much to do this weekend and if it was down here all I would do is just set in it and make funny noises. You'll see it soon, When I get it back on the road may have to drive down and eat some breakfest with the Arkie guys.....

if someone that goes and finds a set of 4 16"-- 5 on 4.5" rims in good shape and at a reasonable price can give me a call and i can wire you $$$ or have you pick them up, will pay for shipping or to relay back to me

 

Sure wish I could be there.Looks to be a lot of fun.Still not quite done with the 41 Chevy pickup.
