Ronnie at NE Rod Shop called me last year to see if I wanted
another Hemi. Can you have too many?
He said the guy wanted $1700.00 for it, and I told him to tackle him,
and not let him out of the shop.
    It's a Dodge Super Red Ram, 4 - 97's on a Weiand manifold, Mallory
ignition, Scheiffer aluminum flywheel, cool clear fuel lines, and very rare thumbscrew hose clamps. Complete fan to oil pan. When I
pulled it apart, it was like brand new inside.
    What a score!

Baby Hemi sounds like an oxy*****, doesn't it? Congratulations. What's the actual displacement on something like that?

    Should be 270 cubes... I'm 100% positive... I think.

I believe it's 270", and I bought a '32 Fordor body on Ebay last year.
It had been chopped about 3" in the '50's [does this sound familiar?]
and never finished. It came out of the Pacific NW, and I'd love to find out more
about it. Once the 5W is done, I'll think about this.

You even got half of an adapter . The other half pieces show up all the time. You have the hard to get part. It may show Cragar 0401 on a raised tab.

No name on the clamps, but if you blow the picture up, you can see how neat they are. They compress the line, not pinch it, and the thumbscrews are drilled.
    Maybe for safety wire?

If you want to see a really tiny hemi V8, check out the 2.5 in a Daimler SP250 Dart if you ever get the chance.

Not that rare. I'd say they are old aircraft pieces, with that safetywire hole in them. You can still buy NOS ones still in the blisterpack on Ebay, but they don't have the safety hole. Search "Eelco", and look in the "store" section at the bottom. Or there are other suppliers online too.

    Yes, that's the updated version.
The originals have a bigger head.

Not to get too far off track, but the current Eelco company is an unpolishable tarnish on the original Eelco name. Very embarrasing, and I bet Els Lohn is rolling over in his grave.

I didn't mean to hold out on you Myke. Maybe I hadn't found the Ebay clamps when we talked? Where was that other supplier we (you) had found? Did they have "big-headed" clamps?

Well not to completely get off track but the other supplier did not have them down to 3/8", 5/8" was the smallest (but they do have the radiator hose size) and I bet you had not seen these ebay ones yet. I was just ribbing you about holding out on me, but you did just cost me 96.00 plus shipping. ha

Back to the little hemi. It's gonna look pretty cool in that chopped 4 door 32. Excellent engine choice.

Yeah, but then what do I do with the 6 carbed
425" Nailhead Buick I was going to use?

Could be a low deck 241-270 or a later ('56-57) tall deck 315/325. What's the number stamped on the machined pad under the thermostat?

Good score.. the Hemi by itself isn't worth that, but when it's got all the goodies on it like that one, it's a great find!

    Whoa, that's a dilemma!

I might lean toward the nailhead, pics?

If you can't decide you can always buy my 52 331 caddy that came out of an allard. I have a 4 x 2 set up for it.
