Now that the driveline swap is done and I have the stance closer to where I want it, it's time to start the new round of body mods.

    Here's what I'm looking for:
    1. Shave handles
    2. Remove side trim
    3. Satin black body
    4. Gold or red sparkle roof

I'm open for any other suggestions on the paint scheme, so fire away Photoshoppers!

I dig the paint that's on there now, but it is starting to show its age up close and I'm ready for a change after 5 years with the flames.

I've also thought about doing it "Dr. Pepper can" maroon suede coat with some tasteful pinstriping or small scallops behind each wheel. Still up for suggestions, but since I'm going to shave the handles, nose, and deck it, I'll need to paint it anyway because the paint it too old to ever get it to match up again....and the hood ornament is right in the middle of the flames.

one solid color, leave the side trim and handles, dont be ashamed of 4 doors. suicide the rear doors. nice shiny gloss black the whole car and flat black all the side trim and do all the pinstriping with the same flat black just my .02.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not ashamed of 4 doors at all. My kids grew up riding in this car and there's some great memories. I just dig the shaved handle look.

Funny you mentioned suiciding the rear doors. I've been working the math on that exact thing. It's going to be tricky because of the contour of the rear edge of the rear doors but it might work. I've seen one Custom 300 that was shiny black ans I wasn't feelin' it for some reason. It did sit stock height, though.

I've been diggin' the Dr Pepper can color for a while and actually almost did that last time around. Still open for opinions and, of course, some PHOTOSHOP examples! :D

Looking at the pic, I think I need to bring the rear down another inch or two...

How bout the Dr. Pepper suede like you mentioned with an off white and abalone flake roof? That would look dynamite together. The body is too big to be just satin black. There needs to be something more than only black on the body.

Panel job or wild scallops. Sean's car on the HAMB here is a perfect example. A really wild paint job will help disguise the extra doors and keep the focus on the paint

Another very good option if its in the cards for you. Joe is a big advocate of scallops for his '57 2dr and as well he should be. The cars have perfect lines for scallops as well as the perfect side trim for them too. Seans car is amazing and definitely one of my favorites.

My buddy Mike has a pretty traditional 57, though it's a tudor, a wild scheme like that might break up the 4door body lines and accent the better features the 57's have. Sorry I don't have any photo shop skills. You've got a pretty cool looking Ford, good luck with the new paint.

I like the way this sits as is, and I'm not that into flames

It seems your going backwards by getting satin paint.

Wow...looks kinda lost all black, doesn't it? Might need to keep the side molding. I need some more examples to make a good decision.

I'm leaving that same trim on my 57 but I have a hardtop with the big fins so the trim runs the tip of the fin.

When you get it all in satin, take it to the show, tell people "maybe I'll paint it one day, all black with flames"

Dave - not to repeat everyone else, but I dig it like it sits. It's got a very cl***ic look to it, as is. BUT, it ain't mine, either. :)

Gotta say, I'm not diggin' the solid color body at all! Definitely needs something. I am seriously considering keeping the flames. but maybe a different color pattern than the while, yellow, orange, red that I have now.

    Orrrrrrrrrrrr,
A wild-*** scallop pattern all over...hood, sides, roof.

Someone try to Photoshop that for me and we'll see.

  24. Yeah solid color makes it look too plain, maybe flake the roof a similar color to the anodised trim and stick with that and then gloss black ourt the flames...

    I actually dig it now...

  25. Remove the side trim & sell it.I need a piece for my p***enger side door.;):D.Actually I just shave the handles.IMHO

I think that by losing the sidetrim, the car kinda shrinks up a bit.

Lose the flames, shoot it mile deep gloss black and flake the roof.

  27. Not being picky here, but that looks like a Custom 300 to me instead of a Fairlane. The trim on a Custom 300 was so cool. IMO cooler than a Fairlane's. I had a white '57 Custom 300 and I pained the gold trim blue .. looked good at the time.
