with the gas hikes going nuts lately here in CA, my buddy had his 65 F series fall victim to attempted gas siphon mishap.
fortunately they didnt get any, but they actually broke his locking cap and tried to cram the innards down the filler neck. he had to disconnect the filler neck, pull the rubber hose etc. etc.
Beware gas thieves and get a lock on your tank!

Broke the locking cap?? You'd think they would've tried one of the thousands of cars with no lock on the cap...

The problem is...with a locking cap they have started to drill the tank. The result is you lose the fuel...and have to get a new tank! No honor a**** thieves.

I take a van pool to work, And the spot where we park our cars along with about 10 other van pools continuesly gets hit from guys like this. One night we caught one waiting for us to leave. Lets to say that that guy hasnt returned...he had 10 big guys surrounding his car and me having a nice chat with him. Oh, and we took all the gas tanks he had in the back of his truck. HA!

Wait until you guys have to pay OUR petrol prices...............$1.88 a litre, which works out to roughly $8.46 a gallon. Makes it tough to cruise all weekend long in the big block!

unfortunately this has hapened to me twice now.there was two guys driving around the area with a 1 ton truck with the inside of the bed modified to be one huge tank, they had electric race pumps and would pull up to your ride in the middle of the night and drop the hose in and ...........they did get caught because the truck they were driving broke down because of the weight of the fuel.dumb *******s,if only i would have caught them myself...........at least there is karma.

Makes you want to go with a fuel cell in the trunk doesn't it. My 55 is so thursty, there isnt usually any left for a thief! Lol.

  14. Hey I just thought of something. Awhile back we were in a rant about DIESEL powered hot rods. I think if you had a DIESEL powered rod and switched parking spots to were the gas powered car usually parks the thieves would get a mouth full of that oily **** and tank full of crud to boot>>>>.

Makes you want to run a hidden tank or cell and fill the old one with something nice for them, like Clorox.

I got hit in a parking garage in a tourist town in the daily driver SRT-4. I only knew because they left the cap loose and it sent a check engine light error code that took me a bit to figure out, that damn light was on for almost a week before it reset it self after I put the cap back on right. Maybe this is just me, but isn't drilling a tank 100% STUPIDITY?

If you're using a drill, on any type of metal, or tough surface, and it causes one spark you're done. Maybe I'm drilling wrong, but every now and then, I'll get a little spark on some metal I'm drilling through. The car will blow up, and the ***hole will get whats coming to him, but you're still out a hotrod, which ****s.

Maybe I'm stupid for writing this and correct me if I'm wrong.

alot of the newer cars and trucks have plastic fuel tanks now, so sparks from the bit on the tank is not a problem, however if they are using an electric drill sparks from the brushes could be a problem

    BUT!! Think, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

Hitting vehicles hidden from view are prime targets!! Locking cap or no!

My truck was behind the shop. NO ONE could see the *******s that siphoned 75 gallons from the tanks.

At roughly $5.00 per gallon; that cost me $375.00!!
(the price just jumped to closer to $6.00 this morning!)

It's just not right, the gas in my tank is worth more than the vehicle that it's in in my driver when I fill it.

All good customs look good with the fuel filler relocated to the trunk.

Modern thieves could never find the filler on a 57 Chevy or my Consul Capri.
