Have always seen 18" and up in Divco ,,and Milk Truck as split rims,,what are these? There measure 16x4
Those are HEAVY DUTY '47~'54 Chevy & GMC truck wheels... Nuttin to special but look cool when ya have all 4 on a Clean 'Ol Pickip
the center looks just like the 37 chevy wheels i had. i really wanted to run them on my es*** but gave up on the 6 lug pattern.
Hmmm ... I guess ya do learn sumpthin new everyday I was goin off what i have been told & from where i have found them, Always on '47~'54 Chevy trucks !
Yeah, I have had them all.... These in the pic however i have removed Several from Trucks & had a "TRUCK" guy tell me they were HD for the truck. I guess ya cant believe evry thing your told
There's some 17" snap ring wheels that were HD for trucks that are very similar (8 vents and everything) except being snap ring type and 17". Thats probably where the truck guy was confused Jimmy
Those Aussie truck wheels ARE the covetted "Divco" (but not really Divco) wheels. Same as Ford used, except they had a different rim, different die to stamp the six lugs, and they are missing the divit for the air valve. Still, a highly desireable wheel and can be converted to hot rod use.
All right, all this talk of what wheels goes where has me perplexed... I got a 54 Chevy truck in ROUGH shape last weekend for the ch***is. I think it's 3/4 or 1 ton ... but it has 8 lug rims. Does this denote what size the truck is, or perhaps that the hubs were changed at some point. I don't mean to hijack, but I'm a little confused at the moment.
Can't find my Divco book right now, but I can say this; All Divco snub-nose milk trucks look the same, but there not; there are about 75 different models. The biggest difference is wheelbase. 100", 115" 127 1/2", and even a 144".The early models in 100" wheelbase, and even some of the later ones, came with 16" wheels. Not finding my book, I can't compare pictures, sorry. So, all I'm saying is it COULD be a Divco rim. Jim
Won't matter, cause the wheel we hotrodders are looking for didn't come on Divcos. People have just mistakenly given them that name over the years. They are accessory "high clearance" wheels that could be ordered for your Ford, and at least some Chevy trucks came with similar wheels. Maybe others, but not Divco.
Heres a better idea of how they look, they are different than most wheel i've seen was the only reason I thought Divoc,,or perhaps those air wheels
yup same wheels i had from a 37 chevy car. i liked them because they look so different, and do look kind of cool. i had the front axle but just wouldnt work for my application. i got tired of looking at it all and gave them to skottyknuckles.
By the time the Advance Design came out, Chevy/GMC had swtiched over to an 8 lug design. Ford followed suit in 1948 (3/4 ton), and Dodge in about 1955 (3/4 ton) or so.
