I'm in the process of redoing the value of my sedan for insurance purposes. I'm thinking mine's worth maybe $15,000 I think that's what I'm going to try and get it insured for. You can judge for yourself how comparable our cars our.

If it runs and drives well, I'm thinking you may be several grand low. T-buckets are going for $12 - $15K. May not have cost you $15 to build it but can you build a new one for today for $15??

Get as much insurance as you afford to get. Agreed upon value is the only choice. Don't take one quote as gospel.

  4. as the owner, what do you think its worth, in u.s. dollars? serious question, I ask becuase I have no clue, I know my trucks not worth what I value it at in real dollars. I couldnt sell it unless its a stupid offer.

And yet, you're reading this thread...

If this was some yahoo car dealer askin' I would agree - they use up a lot of good will. But this guy seems to have built his own car, it looks pretty well engineered and he doesn't want to leave money on the table. (Maybe if he joined the alliance it would ease hassle factor for some?)

I've seen pure shit askin' $18K and more. 15K to 18k sounds crazy but there seems to be buyers for that range.

yea i agree with alot of that. theres figure 1: what it cost you to build plus figure 2: the cost of the hours you put into it then compaire with figure 3: what it would cost you to replace it.

you may have only spent 5 grand on it but if it gets totaled and you get a check for 5 grand from the insurance your not gona get shit.

good look at devilbay and see what they bring i guess

oh, and if your trying to sell it and thats why the price question. id say start a little high. 90% of ppl are going to try to talk you down anyways, so at worst you get what youd like for it and at best you get more

What it would cost to replace it at todays prices including reasonable pay for your labor.
In reality it is what someone will walk up with cash green dollars in his hand and make a legitimate offer. See BBob's post on that.

For insurance purposes documentation would probably be the key.

Rare parts? as in they are just flat not obtainable, not the ebay sellers version of rare.
Example, the wheels may have only cost 10.00 for the set 25 years ago when you grabbed them at a swap meet but what would they sell for today?

Engine or chassis built by a name builder that would add value to the car?
Quality of workmanship on chassis and body?
    Interior?

It's hard for the rest of us to put a value on it as while one guy thinks it is the coolest thing around another guy looks at it and sees 3k worth of body work to make it presentable by his standards and another sees close to the same amount to detail the engine the way he wants it not including a rebuild. Others look at it and ponder what it would cost to get it up to the state that BBobs car is in. Still others look at it and figure that they could duplicate it for under 2k not counting the Tri-power, hedders and wheels and tires.

I think its crazy money but I'd ask 18 on evilbay.

I think 12-15 is probably about right in this market.

    I'd like to pay 10 but A) i prolly still couldn't afford it and B) I'm a cheap bastard :D

    Good luck let us know!
