Rocket question ?

was the extra capacity oil pan (the one with, what looks like an oil canister on the side of the pan) a J-2 option or what?

 

huh?? sounds like you're talking about the canister filter?? Not an option, it's the oil filter

 

I've had several 57-58s with OEM pans on J2 and 4 barrel cars, some with the canister , some plain. Both call for five qts, both are 7 inches deep, oil level is lower in the canister pan, might help with windage. Not J2 only pans, have 394s with canister pans.

Have two 58 371s , J2 has plain pan,,,four barrel has a canister pan---go figure-----

 

i was thinking of getting 2 of these to expand my pan...
