Probably every shipper went up, since all the fuel went up. I'd bet it's not just Mr. Brown. But I use brown and usps, usps for small stuff and brown for larger stuff.

For larger stuff, I use FedEx. They will pick up at my home, and I can do it all over the internet. I have shipped Model T engine blocks cross country for about $50.

Yea a fedex chick told me to get set up at home and it was way cheaper than taking it in. you get some kind of discount for doing it online.

Yeah, you have to have an "account", and using the account costs $11 a month when you send something, but if you do most of your sending in one month, it kind of evens out.

I use Fed ex, it's cheaper then the brown trucks. Do it on line, easy, and quick once your setup with a account.

Check rates online for Fedex, UPS, and DHL. DHL seemed cheapest of you can get stuff to a depot (this was a few months ago)

FedEx Ground used to be the cheapest, but I haven't shipped anything lately to know how much their fuel surcharge has added to the cost. Check with USPS too, their rates haven't gone up because they have no added fuel surcharge. You can check them all online and price check.

The Flat Rate Priority mail boxes at the post office are great for starters, generators or the contents of a Flathead gearbox at $8.95, they just started with a larger box at $12.95. DHl is really good, and reasonable = LESS MONEY than FedEx or the Brownshirts. Go to the DHL website and conpare the costs. Large items go Greyhound Bus Express.

UPS is awesome if you want to pay too much to have your package smashed all to ****.

For stuff under 30 lbs and under a certain measurement I send stuff USPS (the Post Office) and bigger or heavier items I send by Fedex. $25 for a rim is outrageous even if it's going from coast to coast.

Kinda off topic but here it goes. I once had a customer come in dressed in brown (truck driver). Somehow we got to talking about work and what not. He goes on to tell me that if I ever ship anything to use Fedex. He told me that it is nearly impossible to to get fired from UPS. Because of this none of the employees care about anything. He told me straight out that they would **** with peoples things and throw **** around like it was nothing. He went on to tell me that his cousin works at Fedex and has told him how easy it is to get the boot. They take really good care of everything because if they don't its they're ***'s. Ship Fedex.

Ummm.... and what about the post office? Shipped piles of stuff (say 500 + items) via Canadian and then onto the US Post office and guess what? nothing lost and nothing damaged. Cheapest rates. UPS? Never.

I work for usps and yes I ship a lot of stuff priority...but for heavy stuff like rims I would put it on the bus.

  19. Yesterday I ordered some alum heads ,girl calls back and tells me you can save 53$ if we ship usps instead of fedx.

I just shipped an intake manifold to OZ. UPS quoted me $186 while USPS quoted $75, I went with USPS. Hope this helps.

I agree! Ive known two guys that worked for them and they told me the same exact thing! I bet its worse here in So. Cal. Also kinda O/T ive almost got into fights with a couple of those brown robots when im working (im a commercial driver also). They seem to always be in the biggest hurry, thats why im never surprised to see thier trucks broke down or in accidents. So I agree avoid the ***** matters when you want to ship, I stick to USPS or Greyhound for bulk.
