ok, so we all get it, that the bumper boyz ****! and I'm havin issues with the bumper depot now... I used to work for sin city chrome, that place is a joke! so... this all being said, who knows of a good, honest, quality (I know it's scary to put all these words in ***oc. with chrome shops) dependable chrome shop....???
Absolutely the best work I have ever seen but not cheap. They also do cad. plating and black chrome. [INTERNATIONAL CHROMIUM PLATING] 2 ADDISON PLACE PROVIDENCE RI 02909 PH#1:401/421-0205 PH#2:401/421-0475 Fax#:401/273-9507
My ride is a daily driver so show chrome quality and pricing did not interest me. As it turns out, i got near show quality at an unbelievable cheap price. The clean up and straightening was amazing and the shine, 4 years later is still great. I paid $750 for two bumpers and 6 other various trim pieces to be straightened, cleaned, and chromed. I've had good luck with Tri City Plating in Tenn. And I only live about 20 miles from Pauls in Evans City, Pa., but I won't take anything there because of the outrageous prices!
I'll give a tip of the hat to Custom Plating Spe******ts in my hometown of Brillion, Wisconsin. Terry does fantastic work there although their specialty is pot metal and I think he farms out the bumpers. They're the best with the really pitted ****. Again, not cheap (not outrageous either), you get what you pay for and all that. Give them a call at (920)756-3284 You can tell them Squablow sent you (and they'll probably tack an extra 20% on your bill!)
I u$ed $herms in NorCal on my '51 Cadillac and they did a great job. Unless it is show quality you may want to try another $hop though.
Lemon Grove Plating in Lemon Grove , Ca. use to do beautiful pot metal plating, but I haven't dealt with them lately. I use to use them all the time, good prices.
Better Bumper Cleveland, Ohio 216 441 2795 Leave a message for "Wally" Wally said 6 weeks and 750 dollars to do both my Merc bumpers and floating grille. 6 weeks later they were sitting at my house shining and beautifull for 750 bucks. Wally calls mine driver chrome, but it's pretty damn nice. He can do super bad *** too, but not for 750 bucks.. Here is the grille..bad pic, it looks killer in person. -Abone.
I have had great luck with Verne's Chrome Plating in Gardena on El Segundo Blvd. Not the cheapest (but not the priciest either)--really good work and they do it pretty quickly.
well that all depends on how much you are willing to pay for them i guess because they did all the chrome for our 57 chevy truck and it is absolutely amazing no expense was spared, and the chrome is perfect. Sherms did great for us. I know that Foose and Troy Trapanier have used Sherms.
Electro-plating in El Paso has been doing all of my stuff lately. They will give you an option of street chrome or show chrome, their street chrome looking much better then the so called show chrome our local shop put out. Prices are very resonable even for their show stuff ($700 for 2 duece bumpers, bumper brackets, rear spreader bar, plus so misc small parts). Little touches like polishing and chroming both sides of the duece bumpers impressed me with their work
Pauls I've used them for some rare one of a kind and very high dollar parts. They handle things very proffesionally and you get no suprises>>>>.
i have had good luck with Oregon Plating. i have only had some small stuff done but i have a few friends that have had all there stuff done there. very nice work. there in portland OR.
North Star Bumper in Brainerd, MN does a great job and their prices are very fair. They're owned by Keystone Automotive Industries who do a lot of other things, like repair of modern plastic bumpers. I believe you can drop off bumpers for chroming at a local shop and they send them to Brainerd for the work. http://keystone-auto.com
You might try Librandi's near Harrisburg,PA. They seem to have a good rep and the stuff I've seen looks pretty nice. Don't know about their prices, but face it,chrome is expensive and a cheap job is just that.
Good work, good price. If you have a Keystone in your town, just drop your stuff off and they take care of everything. BUT!!!!!!! They were 16 to 20 weeks turn around. Hmmm...let me see...20 weeks is...oh, ****...5 months!!
thanks guys for the tips, looks like I may be driving my bumpers out to Gardena soon... appreciate all the tips! can always count on the HAMB when google finds me nothin!
I used them once...kinda pricey, I thought.....and a 3 month wait on anything, unless you are a regular customer. I had to call them after 15 weeks and then they finally started on my stuff. They did do a good job.
keystone plates 'round the clock and do more than show chrome...just one plating location for appox. 250 stores. but we do super nice work
