Im taking my bone stock 38 ford coupe and building a streetrod. I want a rear leaf spring setup like you see in kit form for 500.00 and up! There must be a set of bone yard springs that would do the job for less. The kit springs are 48" from center to center and they dont tell you a rating ,only that they have a 2" arch to help lower the car. Any Ideas or experiences?
I have 54 Ford springs ,hangers etc. adapted to my 39, I have 3" lowering blocks to get it to sit in the wheel wells, this was done 40 years ago. If I was doing it again I would buy a kit. just my 2 cents.
I Imagine 54 ford springs are getting hardto find! Ive been told plymouth trailduster springs are the right lenght and weight?
i have done several fords ,fat fenders. do your self a favor and buy a ch***is engineering spring kit. easy to do ,all the parts are there ,it works! they are a good company that has there **** together. my 2 cents
i think there was an article many years ago in Tex Smith's Hot Rod Mechanix magaziine about using '80-'90's Chrysler minivan rear springs.
I have seen and I have used the rear kits before. It just erks me that they want 590 for a kit that has maybe a hundred dollars worth of material You can buy just about any set of repacement springs for 150.00 and the brackets arent hard to make Soooooooo where is the other 400.00 or so dollars best spent.
