Headed off to Carlisle tomorrow. Just wondered how those who were there thought the first day went?

Been here since Monday working at the Meguiar's rig. Today was super slow but it should pick up.

    Top buys:

    -Saw a guy score a solid '32 5 window coupe for $16,000
    - '32 grill shell and insert- $150

Stop by the Meguiar's booth and say hi.

Went today, saw 3 different "barn find" vehicles. First one was a 55 chevy g***er done up in the 60's and looks like it's been setting since. Other was a awesome 32 sedan made for the strip in the late 60's early 70's, the last was a 32 5 window Hot rod survivor from the late 50's early 60's for $27,000.

Well, I'm back. Absolutely perfect weather. A very good crowd, the car corral was pretty much full and there were very, very few empty vendor spots. We all had a fun day. Enjoy yours.

Any flea market trip is only as good as the stuff you find and the friends you ******** with. Thursday was an excellent day for me. I'm building a 56 Ford sleeper. One of the 55-56 Ford vendors had parted out a lot of Fords over the years and he had all 3 heater delete pieces that the factory used if you didn't spring for the optional heater. Back in the 50s car ads always included R&H because they were optional. Maybe not so rare in Arizona but non-existent in the snow belt. I didn't even know what they looked like. I'm tickled ****less. I walked non-stop from 7AM to 5PM. Not bad for an old man. I didn't sit for lunch. I ate my sausage on the run but I did get about 5 mins around 4 for an ice cream until my buddy called and it was off to find him. I was able to pick a few brains about FE's road draft tubes and take some measurements on other pieces.

I've heard a lot of whining lately about flea markets but I still love the time I spend in them.

I'm still looking for a p***enger door stainless beltline trim for a '48 Chevy convertible. HUGE finders fee if you find it for me.

Call my cell phone if you find it and need to double check anything

Like Tommy said, everyone blats about swap meets not being "like they used to be", but just what the hell is? I found some good pieces at good prices---you just have to be there early and know what you're looking at.

I,too, thought Carlisle had slipped a bit,but I found both the crowds and the vendors to be up to my expectations this time. Maybe, with the economy down, more guys will clean out their closets and garages and the meets will be a good place to buy again at a reasonable price.

I bought 2 cars !!!!............1/18th scale of course. Picked up the GMP red '32 Highboy and the full fendered blue '32 roadster and a new acrylic display case. I gotta stop this foolishness so I can afford more "real" cars......Don.

Yow....what was with Carlisle on Saturday. No backup onto the Penn. Pike, no wait to pay the toll, no wait to get into town (off 81) and I parked on the first block away from the main gate.
I can remember dreading going on Saturday, with all the traffic and parking 1/2 mile away. It looked deserted!

    chopolds,
I think it was the weather report. Was supposed to shower on Saturday, so everyone went on Thurs and Fri. I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't ***es to elbows at noon. Had a great day.

it's easier to get into carlilse (traffic wise) ever since they added all the specialty shows, corvette, mopar, ford, gm, and trucks. it hurt the spring and fall shows as far as attendance goes. but there are the same amount of vendors there.
