Sundsy Model Cars - April 26

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Carps, Apr 26, 2008.

  1. Found this old body out in the scrub few weeks ago and dragged it home.

It's a bit rough but I reckon I can save it.

Picked up some parts at a local swapmeet to help me get started and I reckon it won't be long before I've got the makings of a nice hot rod.

The NOS door is mint and was bargain priced. The other door is missing a hinge and has a few layers of paint on it but it looks solid. The fender is ******ed and may not be savable but it was free with the running boards which are pretty solid, just require cleanup and new rubber. The bootlid looks worse than it is, only has a few small rust-holes and should be easy to repair.

Went shopping for more parts today and picked up a brand new repro steel front fender for the '34. So now no need to even attempt to resurrect the damaged rusty one. Unfortunately I didn't have enough cash to buy the rears.

However, I found a grungy old one in a mates junk pile . Then answered an ad in the paper from a guy who had this fibregl*** '34 rear fender and tank cover. Turns out he's been searching for years for an original steel one and finally found it. So now his car has 4 steel fenders. I can live with with a few 'plastic' parts to get it on the road, heck, nobody will know once the car is all together anyhow.

Another buddy had a decent ch***is he didn't need, so I had it sandblasted and primered. Now it's down to work. Still need a few body parts but there's time for tracking them down while I build the ch***is.

  2. Carps, that is about the best diorama idea I have ever seen! I love it! Nice work on 'rusting' the body too, not over the top like a lot are!

Nice and cool presentation too. $40 for an NOS door, that must have been about 40 years ago.

  16. My work is incredible?

I'm not the one with separate brake shoes and drums, that's just too much for words.

Carps, that bare metal fender is my favorite part. The whole thing presents very well as a whole . Really nice work my man.

I hope to post a few next week.
In the mean time, here's a couple I did some photoshopping on and posted on the Art Show a few weeks ago.

Here's some pics of a Caddy powered '32 Tudor I'm working on. First model I've thrown together in probably 10-15 years, so please be kind. It's based on an AMT kit from the early 60's w/ lot's of stuff from other kits thrown in for good measure. Still needs interior and some detail stuff. Whatcha' think?

Finished up the '32 Tudor tonight. Interior is finished, complete with helmet and a mini copy of Traditional Rod & Kulture on the p***enger seat. Considering it's my first effort in a long time, I'm pretty pleased. What do you guys think?
