heres another update b pillar is done and window top is on finally looks like something now i didnt like the way the pillar went into the roof so i cut another relief cut. plus the reason there are 2 cuts on the pillars is because i was gonna hard top this car but changed my mind at the last minute the other side the way the pillar runs to the roof now.. much better then before in my opinion b pillar done
inside work on the b pillar finished . found out my chevy parts car had crazy little slide back side windows and the pontiac has fixed ones. so i might be cuttin out some of my work to put in the sliders well heres what happens when ya use coupe door tops ontop of fast back doors ya get a tad bit of a gap ill show how i fixed that later .ya can also see im plannin on rounding the corner
door top welded on heres how the pillars line up with each other took some tweaking to get them both to line up the same new profile pic with door top on last one for now should have the door top finished today show ya the details later
LOOKING GOOD FLOP!!!! by the way i enjoyed my sunny saturday cruising my '49 ..... just thought i'd rub that in there,,,,,hahaha
the only rays i got poncho is from the welder !!!!!! thanks guys for the feedback more pics when i finish the door top
yo flop, i don't know if Kevin's still doin' his thing at the house or not. I would imagine so! Hope so, always fun cruisin' up there! Hope to see ya over memorial day. where is the show again? at the garage or at that park? -ace
the party is on the 25th of may at the big garage in millvale . try to get some of your other buddies to come down its robably gonna be the last one there ... also if ya need a place to stay the night im sure we could put you guys up somewhere thanks mpc hope it gets in the tech section!
finished the door top today almost done with this side of the chop woooooo!!!! kind of a pain in the ass because of the coupe and fastback door posts mixed together but it all worked out in the end then i made some more work where did the corner go !!?? heres how i got the nice radius 4 and a half inch cut off wheel heres how i made the piece for the corner tack welded a piece of sheet metal over the edge and drew the curve from the back!
heres the corner after i put the piece inside to block it off so it looks factory. there was to much lead to weld the top up most likly gonna seam seal then but some plastic over it for the most part it is done still gotta weld the door corner up just one of those little things that adds alot to a car but is not noticable.
Not sure what is more impressive, your skill or your patience but most definetly both together they are awsome. I will be watching this one intently as well as coming back for pointers over and over. Thanx Flop!
Sweet. I'm going to try my ass off to get out there. Where are you all moving when it comes down to it? i love your guys' garage. i'd hate to see it go. lookin' good man, very nice. -ace
thanks a lot guys more progress today gonna finish the front pillar i hope. ace, i dont know where we are goin yet. commercial property is so expensive. we got that little garage which is a big 4 bay and a 3000 square foot lot for 400 a month .
your tellin me ace!! thanks grady finished the a pillar today lots of beating and twisting to get everything right. not that easy gettin a ton of different body lines to line up after it was all welded up next mission and i found out that i thought the wing windows were pot metal they are infact steel and it kinda reminds me that its actually chopped. my eyes are so used to lookin at this car it seems not even chopped anymore.
flop nice work man, love all the pictures. how much did you chop it? did you take the same amount out of all the pillars? why did you cut the whole back window out instead folding it down?
